In fairness Honda are a very reserved and traditional Japanese conservative compnay who have motorcycles as there core business.

Kawasaki are a heavy engineering company who make industrial turbines and oil tankers as their core business. They play at making motorcycles almost as the MD's hobby and I think this reflects in how mental they are prepared to make their product and brand image.

People are quoting 159bhp because that's the figure Honda gave us. That's the road version. The point is simple - you can buy a £12k sportsbike that'll throw out 40bhp more.

The road going H2 is 250bhp.

Isn't it 95%+ Marquez' championship winning bike? If money were no object that would be the bike I would buy. The HRC paint job really doesn't do it any favours but if I could afford that bike it'd be in repsol colours

But the H2 is huge and weighs about 15 tonnes in comparrison

And the H2 does not make or is even quoted as making anywhere near 250 bhp

Which do you think will be quicker a road going rcv or a road going h2?

No brainer imo and not surprising as its like comparing apples with potatoes and the design briefs couldn't not be further apart either. Both projects have been very successful imo though.

Just my opinion.

Honda wanted to give their young engineers a special project.

Kawasaki wanted to harness different departments working together and build a very fast supercharged bike to create interest in superchargers.

I would say job done for both.

Kawasaki have clearly made a success of the H2. It's had massive amounts of press and sounded awesome at the TT. We don't really know anything about the Honda yet, except what they've told us. IF they've given the public the chance to own what is basically a road legal full on moto gp bike then fair play to them. I bet it goes like f$&k!

Confused the road going version makes what Kawasaki quote it should. The higher spec H2R is 77 bhp down on quoted power which is very nearly 25% down on what the spec sheets suggest.

I can fully see your point of view Blade.

The problem as I see it is you had the Kawasaki hype and mental bike first

Honda announce a MotoGP Race Rep bike. Everyone hears MotoGP and expects mental (regardless of Hondas intentions) especially with the H2R saga fresh in their minds. It's 215 Bhp optionally. Your flagship bike shouldn't come out standard with less power than your regular sports bike, especially when it's a 'race rep' and especially for that price.

It's only my opinion but I think it's representative of the general feeling about the bike.

it says the the kwack was either loosing traction on the dyno rollers or the fuelling was out at the top end ,either way its still above the magic 200 bhp mark and nowhere near the hondas price.I dont want a H2R so not defending it.
I still think the Honda misses the point and is terrible value for money.No doubt it will sell to people with more money than snese

Maybe the 159bhp road version has softer suspension and less power so you can use it as a sports tourer?
