Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
well, today is the first time ive looked at the bike since the last track day in november. i do love bikes, but as with anything you can sometimes have too much of something so ive had a break. ive not even been on any bike related websites/FB groups, not been on here much either, just needed a break.
today was enjoyable as the sun was shining and got to tinker without race/track day pressures. stripped the carbs, did a water pipes modification, changed the plugs, fixed the sticking rear brake, wired in a mandatory rain light, refitted crash bungs. just fork seals, oil n filter, and a damn good clean to do.

Early start for hopefully some clear roads to Loomies, for one of their sausage babs, and to look at the baps
mmmmmm nice....
Quick morning hoon with dry clear roads was a dream.... I love my bike
Oh yeah almost forgot, arrived at a set of lights where Mr Policeman was already there on his bike... I nodded and pulled away to the dizzy speeds of 40... that was the limit, was doing a little over;) He was in my shadow, then we hit the national sign, I went to 70... + a little bit, still sitting in my shadow, finally he went by, he followed me for bloody ages... Phew! with a very small gesture with his hand, a mini wave ha ha, by the end of that section we were not doing 70.... why could he have not done that sooner!!!!!! I think my little police support sicker on the back of my helmet helped
For those local, it was the A33 from the M4 to the first roundabout at Wellington...

Cleaned it after yesterdays ride. Was surpised how much salt appears to be on the wheels.
Also finally managed to get the sticky off the rear wheel where previous wheel weights used to be.
Top tip for this is some Autoglym insect remover, spray on leave for a minute and then you can push the sticky off with a bit of elbow grease.

You did the right thing to clean thr bike immediately Duke as if you leave the salt on even over night it can start to attack the light alloy and start seizing compoenents up its horrible stuff for motorbikes.

It hasn't done my car much good this winter either.Blade wrote:You did the right thing to clean thr bike immediately Duke as if you leave the salt on even over night it can start to attack the light alloy and start seizing compoenents up its horrible stuff for motorbikes.
The alloys wont wash clean, they will have to be polished once then stop putting roadsalt down. Tiny little dark specs stuck to the wheels and the paintwork in places.

Get a clay cloth for the body panel contaminate removed but use carefully.
I thought you had winter wheels for the winter Duke ?
Another tip is polish your wheels the polish will protect there finish and make contaminate removal easier.

I didn't bother with winter wheels for the Audi as the price of the tyres alone was enough.Blade wrote:Get a clay cloth for the body panel contaminate removed but use carefully.

Any idea where i can get one of these clay cloths? I think I have seen Cookie saying how good these are.

Duke start searching eBay mate.
Now winter is over you will get people virtually giving away 3 month old sets of winter wheels and tyres. I got a virtually new set for my car for £300. Now is the time to buy winter wheels, plenty of absolute bargains about.
