Not been to Bassetts for ages. I got bored with the muppets in cars and on scooters.

Hello,

I've just joined the forum and thought I'd say hey!

I'm from Gloucestershire, I'm 21 years old and am in the 4th year of an Engineering Apprenticeship - currently doing Applications Engineering for Machine Tool Products.

I used to ride all year round having started my biking life on a Piaggio Zip 50 4T, Aprilia SX125 and then a Suzuki SV650S K3 before getting my Kawasaki ZX6R the day after my 18th birthday - all funded by my own bank account!

I've done 3 trackdays on 28,000mile ZX6R: Pembrey twice and Donington Park GP once. I managed a 1.41 at Donington. My plan over winter is to give the bike some TLC - refresh the suspension, rebuild the calipers, replace any worn bearings and get some track fairings. I'm also going to replace the OEM discs with the Brembo 320mm and get some SBS DC (Dual Carbon) pads along with Motul RBF660 fluid.

I look forward to getting to know some of you!

Hi mate. Thanks for joining. I think I've seen you on the zx6r page on Facebook.

Full credit to you for working for what you want. 21 and the owner of a zx6r. Nice one.

Sadly I've not managed a track day this year but I hope to change that next year.

This is a good time of year to buy race stuff as the racing season is over so you'll find loads of bargains. I saw some race fairings over on Motoforum.net. Not sure if you use that?

Oh no! I've been recognised! Haha. Which facebook page?

You have to get a few under your belt next year, it's what keeps me on the right side of sanity.

I've been on there a few times but not registered... I'm trying to put off registering until I have the money to get what I want otherwise I'll be crying at the laptop screen when everything I like sells.

I think it's the ZX6R UK forum page.

I know what you mean. I saw an Ohlins rear on there for £500 for my zx6r and got tempted.

A few of the Tankslap regulars are away doing Jerez for a few days

It's not even the parts that catch my eye - there was a 2012 T675R which was recently Cat D'd up for sale after being converted into a track/race bike. NIX25 fork internals, TTX36 shock, fairings, clip ons, rearsets, powercommander, exhaust system, something stupid like 600 miles and so much other stuff for £6500 !!!! The bike hadn't even been used on the track at this point..

I keep looking on there for a master cylinder to be honest...

Alright for some !! That's part of my plan for next winter.

Welcome mate hope you like it here.

Impressive time at Donny. Your not hanging around there, a 1.41 would see you on the back of the National 600 grid and your on a road bike.

Have you considered racing ?

Just checked out the Master Cylinder - that's a nice looking bit of kit! Sadly I have to restrict myself otherwise I would be in debt by thousands of pounds haha.

It seems like a good bunch of people from what I've read on a few threads, it'll be nice to chat to people with different bikes for a change rather than the age old, "which model of this bike looks the best?" - everyone proceeds to vote for the bike they own.

I've looked at a few times from Club racing and Thundersport and I have considered racing - only issue is, being a 21 year old apprentice I don't have very much money so I can't even afford a race bike at the minute let alone the cost of race meetings. If I can get to a 1.37 at Donington then I will start looking for some sponsorship from local businesses that I'm friendly with and see what I can come up with. If I could cover the cost of tyres and get significant discount off race parts I would be very happy indeed!

Haha.. yeah I was hoping to find a certain type of videography but instead found bike talk!

It was through googling about brakes that I stumbled on a thread then had a quick scout through and liked what I saw to be honest
