I think the thing with a scooter is, very few people ride them because they want to, they ride them because they have to.
They're functional, never recreational.

Another 19mph average journey home with the car guzzling fuel at 30mpg.
15 mile journey took 50 minutes.
A scooter looks more and more favourable all the time.

It's a shame you didn't look at some of the electric scooters when we where in Milan.
For short distances I reckon they make a lot of sense.
If this distance is sort enough then an electric push bike world would do the trick.

Move to Buxton, I'm averaging 60mph and 23mpg!
Much more bang for your buck.

Or even move to the East Riding, and have (easy 70 mph) 45mpg in an entirely Montyless environment.

Is it wrong i find it more interesting in looking at s/h scooters than any car?
Definitely going to buy a cheap one and try it out when i see the right one.
I cannot believe the mileage on some of them 30,000+ miles is not uncommon.

Wrong? Not at all, right tool for the right job IMO.
Going into London, had to be the train for me. Living in the but end of nowhere, Monty seems to like a 4x4. Tackling a decent run of the M6, the seems to suit a versys. If a scooter would do the job for you the give it a shot, just don't ride it in full leathers or we will rip you a new one
