That looks like a bit of an epic episode Rocket.
Good to learn you both got home safely in the end, let's hope it's a bad start to a good relationship.

Question please.?
I see you have a Warrior Tyre-Down. What do you think of it please mate.?
I have twin front wheel chocks in my little Vito, & I usually strap bikes in by the subframe only. I works pretty well, but I think a system that holds the un-sprung components securely would be a preferred approach.
Sorry for the slight thread hijack.

First time i have used it. I bought it as a package , front wheel chock, handle bar and tyre down. All worked spot on was happy with tyre down and strapping the bike down was an easy task. The only negative i have with the tyre down is i put some anchor points on the trailer about half way down and the tyre down only just reached them it was at the very end of its adjustment on the ratchet straps. I thought the ratchet straps were a little short other than that its a well made product I can upload some pics if you want to see what its made like.

My thinking is that (for the firmest hold) the Tyre-Down would want to ideally be parallel to the rear axle, and therefore quite a short distance. However in my van a motorcycle rear axle is almost the same point as the rear wheel arches. So like you, if I use them I will probably have to have them pulling slightly forward or slightly rearwards.
The ratchet length may also therefore present a similar issue to me. :(
Thank you for the advice mate.

I have a Tyre Down but with a metal plate rather than the fabric I can see on that one.

The instructions that came with mine where quite specific on where to have the anchor points

Its a great system IMO, I also use a wheel chock but tie the front down around the base of the front forks, over the axle, so I don't have any load on the suspension. I can do the lot by myself simple as.

Thanks KK, thats 2" ahead of the front axle presumably to ensure that it would be stressed against the tie-down point if momentum tried to move it back out of the front wheel chock (but without too much forward to avoid loading up the front suspension in the process)
Interesting, I had thought level, but see the logic in that.
I've seen the metal ones before, and they always seem well rated by their owners, but they are (no doubt justifiably) rather expensive. The Warrior ones are currently just £ 30 delivered, so that is why I wanted to get some feedback on how effective they are. (I've lived in Yorkshire for quite a while now, some of it is bound to rub off ;) )

so i rolled the green meany out the garage today to start fitting the quick shifter. the coil wires are not to bad to get to and the install on the heal tech seems pretty straight forward.

took a photo in the sun before i started

When I picked up the bike i Thought i spied a scottoiler i asked the dealer "no its not got one" ...... Whats this then

I stripped the air box to find this

Did the dealer not have a clue?

Why didn't they change the filter while they were servicing or do dealers not do this only the oil? Guess it's down to mileage if the service doesn't require the filter to be changed?

Got it all back together and all took it out for a quick shake down.......

I'm not to proud to say I shat myself. The quick action throttle is a bit too aggressive so need to change the cam. It's hard to control I just tickle the throttle then the next thing it's on full. I went for a 10 mile run and it span up 3 times on me. 1st gear is also really tall and I don't thing it helped that I never got of second. So a bit of adjustment and I'll have another go.

Everyone here is a kwak-lover it seems.

Seeing as I'm the apprentice I nominate anyone else to change their bike! :D
