I get pre-paid as I'm not using the phone on a network 40% of the time (offshore) so only pay when at home. My over night in Darwin I blow what ever data I have left, and 500mb on HD non youtube video does indeed disappear fast! (Lol)

I tested an ee 4g sum the other day before signing up for a Sim only contract.

The free Sim came with 50mb of data, the connection was faster than my WiFi and the data lasted less than 15 minutes.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I m going to upgrade from 500mb to 1 or 2 gb which will be more than enough to future proof me. I have nevered used more than 500mb as 90% of the time I'm on WiFi so confident I will be OK. Thanks for the advice though which has definitely been very useful. Cheers.

Your phone will monitor your data use so you should be able to set it up to warn you when you're close to your allowance.

I have a 10 gig a month limit and generally use it all most months during the F1 and MotoGP seasons as I work weekends and leave my phone on the side in the lab playing them. I'm with EE at the moment but i'll be going back to Three when my contracts up because they are far cheaper with similar coverage in my area.

I'm busy next week but will ring o2 and sort a deal the week after or move to another network.

I saw an ad while watching the TT. Was unlimited data text and calls on a prepaid for £12 month. Can't remember which provider thou. But at that price you'd be better off going pre-paid and buying a handset outright.

So good Kiwi will have to try and find that deal.

I won't be paying shops prices on the contract though they all wanted about 25-30% more per month than the same deal online.

ERM, well it would seem that a really good 4g connection is bad for your days

I've managed to munch through 1/4 of my 2gb allowance in 3 days and I've not even tried.

Mind you I did do a speed test and it was just short of 80mb/sec, my ADSL will be 20mb/sec (shocked)

Will be ringing round for deals today so going to try and upgrade my data allowance at the same time.

Good shout Nutz I didn't realise 4g would use data at a faster rate.

What phone you going for? The galaxy s6 mini and s6 active have been announced so other Samsungs WILL be coming down in price shortly. You technically won't use more data on 4g but due to the faster speeds you'll be more likely to watch videos etc in higher quality so use more data ultimately.

I fancy the s5 mini Andy.

Hopefully some good deals out there.

Until the s6 mini is acually released (probly next month) the s5 will probably hold its value. If you can wait a month I really would. You could either get the 5 cheaper or the 6 for a similar price. I'm currently using a POS old phone while I wait.

Yes may be a good idea Andy.

What are the upgrades on the S6 mini compared to the s5 mini do you know ?

It'll almost certainly just be a bit better at everything! Certainly a better camera and processor. Although the s5 mini will be a perfectly good phone, the second the s6 mini comes out, it is a generation old and will fall in price as most will just stop buying it.
