A call this morning to say he's been taken into hospital as he collapsed at home. I'm guessing these calls will become more frequent as he weakens.

Thanks folks.

Spudda, he's pretty weak. He's not been able to eat much and he's tired so his blood pressure is low. He's being subjected to the usual tests and treatment. It's pretty tough for all concerned.

Kwacky is it possible he could take nutrition on in a liquid form ? There are some great products out there. Just a suggestion. I know its not ideal but may help with physical strength and energy levels also possibly assist with blood pressure I don't know.

Latest scans show that the growth is the same size, which is the best we can hope for.

That news seems to have rallied him a little and he's got his appetite back

That's good to read, A positive is a positive and could be a very welcome turning point.

Like a lot on here I've been through this with my Dad, however if he's managing to keep it at bay that's really good news, my best wishes to all your family Kwacky - especially to Mrs Kwacky and her Mum as I know the stress will be hitting them both really hard.
Best wishes D&E G.

A quick update.

He's been in and out of hospital recently as he's had an internal infection which they believe was caused by the stent they fitted becoming blocked.

Last week he was told that he was having an operation on the Friday, then the Monday, then the Sunday. They get him in on Sunday to tell him it's taking place the next day. They do the operation, but decide that they can't remove the old stent, so he's got to deal with the infections as they come. They get him ready to go home.

The following day another doctor tells him that they can fit another stent just above the old one and that will help him out. So now he's due to have another operation and will spend another 2 weeks in hospital.

The poor bloke is in his 80s and they're messing him about. His health is up and down as one minute he thinks this is the end and the next he's been told they can do something which will make him feel better and prolong his life.

Had the same with both my father and father in law.

The whole system needs a complete review as to how they treat patients in old age. The doctors end up messing their bodies about so much that their last years/months end up being far worse than they need to be.

Sometimes they should look at just trying to improve the patient's quality of life rather than prolong life for no good reason. there just seems to be a complete lack of commonsense used by many doctors.

Its a very difficult time for everyone.

Ron passed away this evening, peacefully in his sleep, at home, with his wife and daughter by his side.
