I love my kids and I'm totally blessed, which is very easy to say 200 miles away in a Hotel on my own!

Oh I get that sentiment mate. I would not be without them ever, but time to ones self is valuable.

So agree with that statement, I've had 2 girls one 30 this year and one who's 26..bought up by me pretty much single handed and both have the same Dad....but what a difference.

Youngest works for the police in intelligence and one has always operated on the other side of the law, one is a career girl and travelled the world and one has been a single parent since 19.but..... when my Mum was in the last stages of asbestos cancer a few weeks ago the one who has always been a bit of a pain excelled herself. She took all her holiday entitlement for the year and cared for my Mum 24/7 in-between my visits and did things that I found it impossible to do.

She made my Mums last few weeks safe and secure and meant she could die at home instead of a hospice.

I am very proud of my girls achievements and can honestly say it includes both of them.

Parenting has to be the hardest job ever and continues until you die, no retirement and no pension pot at the end but I wouldn't change it for the world .

Glad your daughter could open up to you , sounds like you have done well and be proud of yourself too

I dunno....I kinda jumped in at the deep end on the whole parenting...wife already had 8 & 10 year-old sons....on our first Christmas Eve together, just as I was putting them to bed, one of them asked me "Darren, can we call you Daddy from now on??"......
I just about shat!......"Of course you can!" sez I, sounding braver than I felt.

On the plus side it was parents evening last night.

My daughter is in the top 5% for her year in every subject. No one had a bad word to say about her.

My wife and I must be doing something right.

Nice one Kwacky. You should both be very proud parents. Hope you do something nice at the weekend as a family to celebrate your daughters achievement and hard work.

Well done Mr and Mrs Kwacky. That's lovely, she obviously realises that hard work now gets her the better life in later life. Keep showing her the way mate

I wouldn't go that far mate...Maybe take her off her shackles for a few hours would be the better alternative!!

She has the chains off when she has to wash the bikes.
