Took it fairly easy at work today to be honest. It's a rarity so I jumped on it ![](http://emoji.tapatalk-cdn.com/emoji23.png)

Re: What are you doing today ??
Sitting on my deck at 8pm, in 33 deg heat, with a gin watching the water bombing aircraft do circuits to smash the fire front. The fire north of me is now the biggest fire in NSW.
Currently we have over 100 active fires in the state

Still about 15km. It’s been tracking West the last few daysKwacky wrote:How far away is it now?
I took these from about 15 km down the road from my place. The red arrow is the approx position of my house. The fire is 15 km further past the ridge line.
For scale, the photos are taken from about 200ft elevation and that ridge is at 1980 ft. So gives you an idea of the smoke plume. It carries on eastwards and blankets Sydney city about 80 km away. The air quality is worse in the CBD than Beijing atm.

The views are quite good, just not from my house because there is too many trees!! but from the top of my driveway I can see Sydney CBD in line of sight.C00kiemonster wrote:You must have a great view Kiwi - well when it's not burning around you - thats some elevation!
Here’s a few I’ve taken with the zoom. The CBD is 77 km in a straight line.

Very nice mate! I would say you've got a great spot but at least I don't get bush fires where I live..... that's all I've got really haha.
I've done a little more rearset design for my ZX6R... working on the brake side currently.

They had riots there during WW1...protesting the draft or whatever.
New Year's Day, or Valentine's Day, or Easter.
Or something like that.
Probably.

Bit before my time so didn’t know anything about that, but I guess you still have the newspaper clippingD41 wrote:They had riots there during WW1...protesting the draft or whatever.

Re: What are you doing today ??
![Gah (gah)](./images/smilies/gah.gif)
Had high winds today and the fire has jumped containment lines and now have a fire front about 10 km away. We are directly south of it and the winds are currently west so no immediate issue atm.
I’ve got a friend in Fire Control Command and hadn’t wanted to bother them up till now but we had a chat today. Gave me an insight to a few concerning issues. There is a better than average chance we are going to get fire come through here it seems.
Going to see how tomorrow develops but I’m getting close to ringing work and telling them I’m not coming. That will cost me but if I can save my house it will be worth it.
View from Jess’ place.
