I'm getting old. Keeping warm, watching Bargain Hunt and having afternoon naps is where it's at these days.

I have afternoon naps at work

I sat in a rocking chair the other day, but couldn't get it going.

You're not rock enough

Now that's a low blow.

Afternoon naps should be compulsory for the over 50s. And you should get an extra 10 minutes with every extra year.

Back to domestic life. Get the kids after school in a couple of hours, just picked up their gear from the ex and did grocery shopping. Let’s see how many days I get in before I wonder why I missed them

Well....a little-biddy tremor, at least. A baby quake with slight rolling.

Doing nowt at all today....it's raining, so I'll be staying indoors & doing bugger all.
I'm bored-as-fcuk, TBH.

I applied for 4 jobs and signed up / searched for jobs with even more companies.

There's one in particular which interests me and would set up me quite nicely for my future

Doing my annual recertifications for first aid and other stuff - worst day of the year!!!

Yup. It’s always get out early here, because of the topography the fire tends to burn up to the crest and over shoot embers and start further down the slope effectively trapping you. So if you are going to leave, leave early.

I’d get the kids out but I’m going to stay. I have a heavy duty petrol powered fire pump, 50 metres of hose and 38,000L of pool water for supply. I have my full turnout gear (fire fighting kit) from the refinery and my garage is double brick with a slate floor above it, so a good sanctuary for a flash over. I also have extensive fight fighting training up my sleeve.


I’ve discussed my plan with the local Rural Fire Chief last time fires were close, and I was one of two people in the street to be approved to stay during the evacuation.

I’m definitely available on a contract rate to mobilise to France for fire fighting consultancy, and I won’t crash your bike (as long as you don’t let me ride it )
