Been there many years back and it's a good event. Glad to see its return as believe it was stopped for a while.
You get extremely close up to the racing so imagine with your skills and the good viewing you will get some awesome action shots

Re: What are you doing today ??
Up until today St Marks I thought it was an overkill. The hardest bit was the chopper flight. That messed me up a bit because I couldn’t move. Was stuck in position for 1.5 hrs and heaps of vibrations. Caused heaps of numbness in my arms and legs. But I remediated that pretty easy. The week has been very easy and I basically had my own race to run. Nothing was expected of me and I had no area assignment so was just a floater. But today we had a plant upset and the area I’m moving into in Dec, had a large workload so I went up to help. So first hit at turning valves, dragging bleed hoses about, climbing around equipment. Normal ops stuff. I’ve just finished work and I can’t walk properly. My leg is that numb I’m limping and my arms and hands and tingling like mad.StMarks wrote:Still think it was unnecessary mate, or are your company actually making a good job of phasing you back in whilst minimising risk & damage.?kiwikrasher wrote:my last day of work... these one week trips are brilliant should see all the dirty looks I'm getting from the guys I flew in with that still have 2 weeks to go
So in hindsight, a week was plenty.

Not good to read kiwi mate. Get yourself home buddy and take it easy.
Hope you feel better soon and the flight home isn't too uncomfortable.

Codiene painkillers went prescription only in Aus a year ago, but 2 days ago I found a stash I had in my work locker, so I should be right if not there is always the qantas lounge bar in DarwinBlade wrote:Not good to read kiwi mate. Get yourself home buddy and take it easy.

Jess might just have to do the hard work when I get home tomorrow night though

Any codiene content, even Panadol forte. The druggies where cooking up too much of it.Blade wrote: What strength codiene is prescription you can get 8/500 in chemist here but 30/500 are prescription only here.

Learned this afternoon that they are discontinuing MiL's treatment and it's time to prepare for end of life care.
It's not a surprise to us but still not easy to come to terms with it. Wife is understandably very upset.

Re: What are you doing today ??
Feel for you and your family Duke. Very sad news.
I can remember when my wife came home and told me they had said the same to her and they had started end of life, palliative care for her mum.
It isnt easy or nice. The only thing I can say is the obvious and be their for your wife as she is going to need you alot.

There's not a great deal I can add, mate. Just make the most of the time you've got left together. I didn't with my Dad, as I think I was in denial about how bad things were.
I'll regret that for the rest of my life.

So sorry to hear this, I know you expected it, but when it becomes reality that's hard.
Love to Mrs Duke xx

Re: What are you doing today ??
Traded the Nissan Pathfinder in on a new 4x4.
Got an ex demo Isuzu MUX LS-M with 9K on the clock for a great price. Got through a regional dealer an hour south of Sydney. So much nicer to deal with than the Sydney dealers. Got a square hitch heavy duty towbar and window tints thrown in (you would’ve been proud Blade ).
Delivering to me next week once the fitments have been done.
Now shopping for bullbar, lift kit and bash plates this is how it can look kitted out.

All over the phone, but I got a $4K price drop, $3K better trade on my old wagon than anyone else had offered previously and the extras included as well as the next service rolled in and done before delivery.Blade wrote:Did they cry when you shook on the deal and look like they absolutely despised youkiwikrasher wrote:Traded the Nissan Pathfinder in on a new 4x4.

Duke I'm very sorry to hear this. This is very hard for anyone to go through and I've seen your posts recently regarding your MiL, heart and thoughts go out to you and your wife.duke63 wrote:Learned this afternoon that they are discontinuing MiL's treatment and it's time to prepare for end of life care.
