I was told as a rule of thumb 500 miles is time to replace running shoes.

I went for gait analysis before retuning to jogging (running is the wrong word) as have injuries also.

Find a good running shop kiwi and the gaot analysis will be free as will the advice of a range of shoes. I tired about 6 different pairs of
shoes on, all suitable for my gait on paper and manufacturers advice but 1 pair felt immediately right and better than all the others and it wasn't the pair I had in my mind when I went to the shop.

Hope you get sorted out.

yeah the rule of thumb here is 500 too, but km's. It's one of those guidelines that has no real basis IMO. I go on wear and feel, but being tight usually wear them for too long. I got gait analysis too when I bought the Boost, it was then I was told I needed a cushioning shoe due to heel striking. I am planning on buying from a shop, running shoes are something I must try before buying indeed.

Why's running the wrong word? I was running 4.12 min km's last City2Surf, definitely not jogging! :^

A couple of my running mates switched to those weird looking foot gloves to get out of heel striking.

A couple of the guys recovering from injury in my running club run in hoka's. They really rate them, but do say they are very soft and it's like running on a mattress.

I also heel strike quite badly and wanted something softer. I went for the mizuno wave enigma 5, it's a good lightweight road shoe with a bit of extra cushioning on the heel. I've only done less than 50 miles in them, but my only comment would be that they are a little narrow for my feet. I just need to learn a new lace technique I think.

Went to the gym. Did a longer warm up than usual, followed by my 5x5 (squats, barbell rows, dips, bench press, planks) then did an ab work out and leg stretches

Reckon I was in the gym for close to 2 hours.

I'm going back this afternoon to do some HIIT and circuits, I really need to burn off some of this winter fat.

Went to fight and black belt sparring this morning,it's very frustrating standing there thinking what your next move is and knowing what to do but breathing out your arse.Still I enjoyed it and I've lost a few pounds this week so I'm going in the right direction :)

The missus mentioned today how she'd noticed a difference in my thighs, and she sounded impressed.

Then, just to burst my bubble she told me how thin my calves were!

Time to step up the wheel work, methinks!

Just done 5k and set a PB so feel like I'm making progress at getting back into running which is good as struggling with motivation tbh.

10k yesterday as a support runner for a 7 year old lad, amazing amount of respect for him for running a 10k but even more when he finished in under 1:10.

10k today as a proper race, started out with the idea of just getting some miles under my belt and ended up going for a time. Finished in 55 mins, I'm not sure if that's a PB as I can't remember my 10k times from last year (must write them down), it is very close to a PB though..

You already KNOW what that's about....that's the fatties explaining away the 15 pies they ate for a Bank Holiday with the obligatory 20mins on a treadmill at an alarmingly slow pace.

Never tried sumo deadlifts. How did they feel?

I went light - 70kg and did them nice and slow. You can feel the hamstrings tire with them but they're comfortable and easy to do.
