I don't have to justify anything. I wasn't there.Itchy wrote:I've got the popcorn ready for D to come along and justify this...
But yes...as mentioned...you're supposed to be face down.
How did the officers know who was who??
What happened before some looky-loo whipped out their phone??
That article is immediately making it a race issue....doesn't mean that that is an accurate assessment. But it does mean it will sell more papers.
Enjoy your popcorn.

Re: Recent shooting in Florida
He shouted out his name occupation and explained why he was there and who the other guy was and that they didn't have any firearms.
I get the feeling if he would have attempted to roll over over onto his front he would have been more seriously injured or killed, the police officer even said he didn't know why he shot him
Funny I never even thought it of a race issue more of a pointless shooting and bad handling of the situation

Re: Recent shooting in Florida
Someone (ie. the cop who fired) should be in serious trouble and should be sacked or something as strong. The clip I watched it was pretty clear that the situation didn't need a firearm to be discharged. The police need to admit a **** up. apologise and take action against those in the wrong. Otherwise it'll create even more tension

Trial By Tankslap!!
Has a nice ring to it..../
So does bandwagon jumping.
Hey.....maybe the LEO was in the wrong...I don't know, and neither does anyone else from a legal standpoint, Let's give the guy his due process, instead of guilty until proven otherwise.

That's an excellent call....next time I'm about to get a traffic ticket (which I never will) I'll try a 'moral argument' and let you know how that works out.
I'm sure that as of this moment, that cop is doing cartwheels around the station yelling "Feck yeah....I bagged one!!!"
Gimme a break..../

Think you're missing the common theme here D. I've been stopped by traffic police in Germany, France, Slovenia, Italy and the UK and not once was my life or the officers life in danger. Two of them had a gun and at no point was that even fecking relevant.
You just don't give guns to monkeys

What on Earth does you being stopped by police in four foreign countries & the UK have to do with what happened here??
I've been stopped loads of times by the police, and each & every time he/she has been armed. They've probably had handcuffs and tasers and all sorts of other fun stuff with them, but they never used those either?? (OK...they have...but that was stuff I volunteered for).
A weapon is a tool. You put all your tools in your toolbox when you go to work...you don't stand around and say "Golly....I sure could have used my S&W right about now, but I think I left it on the kitchen counter....dammit!!"

Re: Recent shooting in Florida
You also shouldn't come home from work and say "Golly, I sure could've used my reasoning, training and knowledge of the law there but instead I decided to shoot an unarmed compliant citizen lying on the floor with his hands up"
But here we are...

Re: Recent shooting in Florida
Seriously????
The guy was NOT compliant. The officer seemed to me like he was following the POST guidelines.
He'll get his day in court....why not wait until then, instead of relying of a brief snippet. It does not tell the whole story, no matter how much you'd like it to.
