Re: Kwacky's ongoing M7rr Metzeler review
New rear tyre fitted back in February but I've not used the bike since. So being the dickhead that I am I decide to scrub it in when it was pissing it down.
I do like the fact that these tyres don't seem to need scrubbing in. I took it easy but no squirms and no spin ups this morning, despite it being cold and standing water on the roads. Braking was still good.

It's all there to test us
I have tainted memories of unscrubbed bridgestones in the wet..
I thought my clutch was slipping from pulling away through til 6th gear - turns out I was wheelspinning from 0-50mph !!

Re: Kwacky's ongoing M7rr Metzeler review
Managed to get the first 30 miles on mine last night and so far very impressed. Didn't really push them for obvious reasons, plus I had brand new brake pads in. Chalk and cheese compared to those horrible Bridgestone's, think I'm going to like them.
Hopefully I'll run them in properly on Saturday and get a better idea what they're like.

I've found them good to go from the outset. I've never really felt the need to run mine in.

Re: Kwacky's ongoing M7rr Metzeler review
I'm sure you're right, and suspect most tyres don't really need much running in these days. I just tend to give any new tyres at least 50 miles regardless of how they feel, just to be safe. More for my own head than anything else.
I did find the front a bit squirmy when I tested the brakes (Sheep in the road), but not in a bad way.

Re: Kwacky's ongoing M7rr Metzeler review
The front tyre on these M7rrs are sensitive to pressure changes. Have a play around and see what you like.
Plus you get a lot of feedback from them so that takes some getting used to.
Now you've got new tyres it is the best time to get your suspension set up.

Read my mind, exactly what I was planning.Kwacky wrote:Now you've got new tyres it is the best time to get your suspension set up.
What pressures do you run yours on, manual says 36/42, but I've got mine set at 32/42.

Re: Kwacky's ongoing M7rr Metzeler review
35/40 or 1 below for both. Recommended track pressure settings for the front is 31 so 32 is going to be too low for the road.

Mmm that would explain the squirminess, I'll put a bit more in next time I go out

Re: Kwacky's ongoing M7rr Metzeler review
I have the M7RRs now yay!! Like Kwacky says it certainly doesn't feel like it needs scrubbing in, yesterday it was warm but I rode 5 miles and the tyres were baking within that distance, I think more so than the M5s would of been which is comforting . They seem less aggressive than the M5s for turn in but today I will properly scrub them in and find out. So far so good

That's a pretty high front pressure Rossgo. I think most manufacturers recommend 34 and I use 32 generally.

TBH in the UK I m yet to find a manufacturer that doesn't recommend 36f/42r on the road but totally agree in warmer climes I would drop to 32 or 34 on the front. I guess as even Aussie winters are hotter than our summers tyre manufacturers recommend lower pressures for Australian riders as the norm.

Yeah your right Blade, both my bikes manuals state 36/42. I've abviously got some info from somewhere I've latched onto because I've always had in my mind 34/40. In summer over here (35-42°C) I always run 32/36 and in winter 34/38 on the road.

Perhaps those are the recommended track pressures for the same tyre.?kiwikrasher wrote:...... I've obviously got some info from somewhere I've latched onto because I've always had in my mind 34/40. .....

Nah mate. I was recommended 30/30 on the Daytona and with warmers I'm 30/28 on the ZX10R.StMarks wrote:Perhaps those are the recommended track pressures for the same tyre.?kiwikrasher wrote:...... Was probably me just removing 2 psi cause I found it to high. Once I have something locked in my OCD nature doesn't like to let it go

Re: Kwacky's ongoing M7rr Metzeler review
I usually have a lower front tyre pressure but actually i would say it was prefect amount of pressure for my 140mile bedding in ride! Potentially May drop 1 or 2 PSI just to try but at the moment it was great! Totally agree with Really these are a fantastic tyre!
These arr less aggressive than the M5s I think this will make for a lot better wet and cold weather riding. I loved my M5s but I can tell these are the next generation of tyre seem to warm up so quickly even compared to the M5s
