Re: Lorenzo and Ducati
Hmmm.....I dunno about that.....Ducati will offer him X amount of money...Yamaha will beat that offer, and then it may just go back & forth in his wallets favour, but not as a good move as far as his racing is concerned...bottom line I think will be his ego.....he's still viewed by many as playing second fiddle to Rossi...and I don't see that changing as long as Rossi shows up ready to race. His own head is doing him in as far as that goes.

Re: Lorenzo and Ducati
He is the current world champion how can he be second fiddle to Rossi ?????
Tbh the way I see it the Ducati may be about to become a better bike than the Yamaha and Jorge is watching this development closely. Yamaha have a limited budget and the bike has evolved rather than been revolutionised in the last 10 years. On the other hand Ducati are innovators with huge amounts of cash and development knowledge from Audi.
Personally I think money will have little to do it with. Jorge is already a multi millionare and a young lad like him with such talent will be interested in titles not cash. Personal opinion I think Jorge is watching the Ducati under Stoners stewardship and if it looks competitive in the early racers which it most certainly does I think he maybe looking to write the next chapter in his racing career.
Going from Yamaha to Ducati and taking Ducati to a World Title would be doing what Rossi couldn't and in Jorge and many other people's minds that alone will be a very big victory and a price worth paying.

Re: Lorenzo and Ducati
Need proof of Ducati competitiveness?
If Iannone hadn't take out his team mate then Dovi would be 2nd in the championship 1 point behind Marquez. I like Dovi and rate him as a talented rider but he is not an Alien. Imagine that Desmosedici with an Alien on board

Re: Lorenzo and Ducati

Re: Lorenzo and Ducati
Vinales is rumoured to be in demand by Yamaha and Honda but I'm sure Suzuki would want to keep him. Nice position to be in.

Re: Lorenzo and Ducati
If Yamaha lose Lorenzo thats a huge blow , Rossi is no longer a regular race winner and they will need a replacement for him in 2 years time , I think Rins or maybe even Lowes will come up from moto2 to take the spot . Unless they can get Vinales of course but I think Suzuki will fight to keep him , I cant see anyone else in the current motogp paddock that Yamaha would want .

Re: Lorenzo and Ducati
My prediction would be If Lorenzo goes to Ducati then Vinales will take his seat. He is extremely hot property at the moment and a rare talent. There is no way Yamaha will allow anyone else to have him as I agree with Jack In that Rossi is no longer a guaranteed front runner although only a fool would write him off.

Maybe , maybe not , but he has already won a WSS title for Yamaha and finished 4th in moto2 last year on possibly the worst chassis in the fieldPerkles wrote:Is lowes really that good

Re: Lorenzo and Ducati
The only rider in Moto2 who really deserves a Motogp ride is Zarco. He's wiping the floor with all the other riders.

Re: Lorenzo and Ducati
Because Rossi is an absolute legend in the sport....he could show up and ride a bicycle around the track and the numbers at the gate would still be massive...Lorenzo misses a race and far fewer would care. Rossi has done wonders for bike racing in terms of public recognition....Lorenzo has not done anything like as much and never will.Blade wrote:He is the current world champion how can he be second fiddle to Rossi ?????
And I'm not a huge Rossi fan either...I just like to see a good race no matter who is involved, but Rossi provides more bang for the buck than Lorenzo does.....people want Rossi Replica stuff and are prepared to pay $$$ for it...every sport has one huge star like this...it just seems to be the way it works.
ANNNNND.....if there was any better example.....who copied Rossi with his signature odd-boot colours....er, Lorenzo...even he emulates #46!!
