If you could only have one...
I've been thinking...
Dangerous, I know, but here we are.
Seeing a few threads recently has shown me that some bikes are awesome, but aren't necessarily lookers. Equally some bikes are sublime to look at but not so hot in the performance stakes.
Obviously we want both, but if you could only have one, which would it be? Style or Performance?
Supermodel looks but all the power of a DAS learner bike, or...
The power of a billion suns harnessed in the frame of Farmer Giles' tractor.
Personally I'd like to say performance, but in reality it's looks. That's why I've modded the bike to get it looking the way I want it to, not handling. If I could only have a 400cc engine in the Zed then I'd still have it. It's still fast enough for the roads and it looks cool as f**k (in my opinion anyway) and yes, I'm that shallow! What about you?

Performance every day of the week. You don't see the bike when you're on it.

Defo go. I'd be happy with a cheap set of track fairings 99% of the time which is what I'll probably do next bike. It's the only way to stop that wince when you hear a stone pinging off the front of the bike and you've then got a mint set of road fairings to go back on for sale time.

Re: If you could only have one...
It will always be a solid performance over looks for me. My bikes have always been as bought, or as they've evolved with dented tanks and scuffs on the swinging arm etc, I really don't care how it looks (up to point of course) but it has to go, stop and handle as well as it could possibly do before I give any serious consideration (money) to the look of it.
In some ways I actually really enjoyed having a beat up looking K2 Gixer 600, it had been a racer all it's life, covered in dents and scratches, but had all the good bits if you looked carefully. It was surprising the effect it had on some of the shiney show pony riders when my ratter completely blew their cosseted beasts away on track. Maybe it's just my sense of humour.....

Much depends on the forum you ask the question on. We're mostly into our sports/naked bikes on here. When you've got people riding Multis you know that performance over looks will win in some sectors (devils)

To be honest there are not many bikes over the years that i wouldn't buy just because they are ugly.
The GSX600F teapot springs to mind but i'm sure there are others.
Let's be honest you probably wouldn't buy a bike that was crap to ride however good it looked.

I didn't even try the Versys when I saw how bad it looked. It's supposed to be an excellent bike but I couldn't get beyond the fugliness of it.

Re: If you could only have one...
Itchy are we talking new bike purchases or bling purchases ?
I.e I bought the zx10r as it was the fastest or best looking litre sportsbike ?
Or
Form over function when modding a bike with after market parts. For example, I've modded my current bike and went for the arrow exhaust as it looks the best or gives the largest performance increase ?

Re: If you could only have one...
I was originally talking about just the bike.
It seems I'm on my own going for looks, but luckily I don't have to make a choice between one or the other, in my eyes I've got plenty of both.
