Good old Triumph :D
In a series of promo videos for the new Tiger 800, the firm says it has ‘increased off-road ability’ but then adds in a disclaimer at the end that ‘Triumph motorcycles are not suitable for off-road use.’

Re: Good old Triumph :D
The recall states that certain motorcycles may experience an ‘unintended activation’ of one of the fuel injectors because of a faulty ECU. This could result in the engine either not starting, or if already running normally, losing ignition in one cylinder due to excessive fuelling.
What damage could that cause ?
What would happen if the damage was already done ?

Yeah, I think you're right Duke
"warning, this bike could hurt you if you fall off" will be appearing next.
I think I'll try out the new 800 Tigers in spring. Frankie seems to love his.

Re: Good old Triumph :D
I read through my 675 owners manual when I first bought it, I was amazed at how many things "may cause you to lose control and death or serious injury may result". Nothing in there would inconvienience you or give you a minor injury, it was all blood, gore and death. They know how instill confidence at Hinkley.

Haha got to love that. I thought Tigers were designed to go off road...so if I a was able to buy one to purely go off road in the tough conditions of Mongolia or something they saying the bike wouldn't be able to do it!?

I think what they're trying to say is if you use your bike off road and it fails you're not covered.

It's like Aprilia refused to repair under warranty RSV4's that had been used on trackdays.

What's the world come too if they have to cover their arises like that when they produce bikes that are made for certain jobs. But guess it will only get worse!

Re: Good old Triumph :D
Tbh I'm not sure how that works legally, if you put a lap timer, sticky tyres, slipper clutch and quickshifter on a bike as standard - all race track required extras I'm not sure if that doesn't erode your position of not being able to use it on a racetrack, surely it's plainly part of the expected use? Can you you just say because it's got webbed feet, it quacks, it looks like a duck and the advertising shows it as a duck, that if you treat it as a duck they've got nothing to do with it? Sounds a bit thin tbh.

Re: Good old Triumph :D
They're just covering themselves.....the Tiger is prolly a very capable off road bike, but for light trail usage....the moment they say it's designed for off road some numpty is gonna think he can ride one in Supercross.
