Lots of little jobs including dropping my bike plastics off at Beermonster's, a trip to the tip, a session at the gym and some time with my son.

Re: What are you doing today ??
Busy day.. Round the bike jobs, I've been looking after the kids all day so time spent at my parents and the park, very much enjoying a sit down and a quiet beer now.

More overtime today, and tomorrow is looking like a very late one...

Re: What are you doing today ??
I broke it about 6-7 years ago and recently it's just flared up shooting pains all the time. Rode the bike about 3 weeks ago and was in agony. So went to the docs just before I went away and booked an X-ray to see what's going on.Kwacky wrote:What you done? You do know you're only supposed to sit on it to make it go numb, don't you?

Attending a symposium on school violence. Pretty sobering stuff when it comes to discussing mental health disorders among young people.

Re: What are you doing today ??
Not sure about statistics, but I'd guess we're high. Many causes to this, and a lot of focus is on the availability of firearms, but I'm one that believes that if they (guns) weren't available, people would find other ways to kill someone unless the underlying causes are addressed. There haven't been a lot of programs in place to identify at risk kids who have mental health disorders, or live in high risk environments. Many events have roots in bullying, and this needs to be addressed more proactively in schools. Not sure I answered your question accurately or not.Kwacky wrote:What is your county like in terms of youth crime?

It does, thank you.
I do agree about tackling the causes rather than dealing with the consequences. And I agree with you about weapons. Some errors of London have massive problems with knife crime. If it wasn't knives they were using it would be something else

Been to see a private consultant and had a camera shoved where i would prefer not but at least he has put my mind at rest about what the problem is.
By the time the NHS get round to organising an appointment I suspect it would have been too late had it been what one GP suggested to me.

Re: What are you doing today ??
As Mac writes, much of it is devolved from bullying, along with peer pressure, especially in the inner-cities, where a very strong "gang mentality" exists in the poorer neighbourhoods....not hard to understand really, what kid doesn't want to fit in??Kwacky wrote:What is your county like in terms of youth crime?
Consider this, you are 200 times more likely to die from gunfire in the USA than the UK, but the murder rate is "only" 4 times than that of the UK.

I think it will be Huddersfield, as there is a criminologist at their university who fit's Mac's description.Kwacky wrote:Huddersfield? That place is worth avoiding.

More overtime, 8am until 11pm with only a hour break. Used the hour break to get out for a run.
Totally knackered now.
