It's the pro EU/Europe group.
Looks like some of them aren't convinced ignoring the biggest trading block isn't very.

Re: The Daily Post Election Politics Thread
Now call me simple, but this makes no sense whatsoever.
If the big companies are accepting that their profit is artificially high then why not just drop the prices to correct it themselves?
If shell for example were to reduce their pump price for petrol they would surely see an initial benefit as people will buy from the cheapest. Then others would have to follow suit leading for overall prices to readjust without having to involve the government.
A windfall tax does nothing to reduce the root problem that the product unit price is artificially high

I see the Opec companies are now saying they will reduce production to push oil prices back up.D41 wrote: Well no kidding!!

I've been holding off ordering my heating oil, in the faint hope that prices may continue to drop..

Lowering the UK’s outlook to negative, from stable, could be the first step towards a full-blown downgrade by Fitch.
Britain is in deep deep shit. The Tories have finally been found out and lost the confidence of the markets.

Re: The Daily Post Election Politics Thread
They might have a problem with that as pretty much everyone outside the cabinet wants to protest at this Government.Kwacky wrote:That new anti protest bill

Re: The Daily Post Election Politics Thread
Whilst it can be perceived as appearing sinister, isn't it actually aimed at addressing the issue of "rent-a-mob", rather than worthy protesters.?

Re: The Daily Post Election Politics Thread
It's not aimed at any group.
This'll be applied to football fans, anti hunt protestors, anti fracking protestors and anyone else the government doesn't like.
But look at the potential punishments and restrictions for people who haven't even been convicted of a crime.

Re: The Daily Post Election Politics Thread
They are using the current groups to sell the concept, yet when it's worded it is suitably generic to be applied to any group.StMarks wrote:Whilst it can be perceived as appearing sinister, isn't it actually aimed at addressing the issue of "rent-a-mob", rather than worthy protesters.?
It's exactly the same as the law change brought in during COVID to stop people gathering in groups to protest. It was sold as a"COVID law"but the wording never mentioned COVID.
We are sleep walking into a country where only the richest have freedoms, the rest will be told to just shut up and pay for them to enjoy it.. sound like any other political regime you know of?
