Re: The Daily Post Election Politics Thread
I've been thinking a lot about what we really should be proud of as a nation, other than the usual colonialist we ran the world bullshit and look at all my sovereignty.
So far I've got humor, popular music, and the ability to take the p!ss out of ourselves. The latter I expect is going to come in pretty handy.

What have you got, as an ex-UK citizen, what makes you proud about the UK, GB, England, Wales, Scotland etc? Genuine question.

You know Gibson grew up in Australia and has Irish citizenship, right. Or is that the joke?

But then, of course,,,,
Ironically those parties have undermined Bojo's position so much that he is effectively forced to abandon any consideration for following the scientific advice for a swift circuit-breaker lockdown.
Deciding not to act, would seem to be the course of action that the perpetrators in question would support.
Imho ^ this ^ does suggest that the release & timing of it were precisely calculated & politically orchestrated.
In "defence" of the Met's action, presumably that would actually be the appropriate course of action to take if political pressure was seen by some to be affecting the direction taken by the investigation.? Imho any rank above Inspector appears to be more of a political & administration role, rather than that of simply upholding law & order. So perhaps a rank & file officer responsible for actually conducting the role of security at that time, could report the case if the chain of command were instructing him in a manner that he felt inappropriate.???

Rayner v Johnson at PMQ was entertaining.
I'm not sure that either of them achieved anything though.

In a decent modern society none of this would be allowed to happen.
What happened to the rule of conflict of interest?
A Tory government stealing from the taxpayers.

It's good to see that the investigation has been decided and leaked to the papers

It would appear that the woman investigating all this, Sue Gray has a very secret past, including running a pub in Ireland during the troubles.Kwacky wrote:It's good to see that the investigation has been decided and leaked to the papers

Re: The Daily Post Election Politics Thread
So it turns out that Friday night drinks were a regular event at 10 Downing Street.
The staff even chipped in to buy a fridge to keep the drinks in.
Rumours today are that Johnson is looking for scapegoats to resign to resign and take some heat off him.

In my opinion this just goes to show that they thought everything that they were forcing upon us was total bollocks which begs the question why then did they put us through it ?
So that them and their chums could take millions from the public purse is what I suspect .
