Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
Dropped off the bike for a service. I was planning to take out the 900 XR, however that is no longer on the demo list. So asked if they have the new S1000R on the list and was it free. Yes it was, so took it out for a nice little spin.
Nice machine, the bars are a lot flatter and the geometry seems to push your arse up and head down, so more weight on the bars. Which takes away the naked feel a little bit, that i have with my model. However after half hour or so it was ok, but i prefer the position of mine.
As for the rest of the bike, it looks good, but i do like my wonky lights rather than just one that this has. Looks like everything else out there now.
The rear has no back light, its all in the indicators, rear and brake and directionals in one.
Not long after leaving the dealership a massive warning note flashed up on the dash, and did not go away, so i could not do anything with the dash or see anything on it!!! I dont know if this can be programmed out, but if it cant that is a stupid design fault. Anyway it was to tell me the tyres, dont know which was flat!!! It was fine. Just dropped a few psi from what it was set to i suppose. Trouble is this messes with your head.
Tried two petrol stations for air, what do you know I did not have any change to pay for it!!! I know of one station near Henley that gives you free air with a proper old pump. Who carries coin when your on a bike anymore?
Anyway stopped at STV used theirs, put 3 extra psi in the front.... what a pain! Then later on big warning again covered the whole screen, you are running low on petrol. I managed to clear this message, not sure how. Again don't get this with my basic clocks ha ha ha.
All in all a nice ride, i would not rush out and upgrade mine, i have it set up how i want and enjoy it. I would say my small screen makes the world of difference at speed, this one had no screen and you knew it.
Again I think the engine is in some sort of restricted mode, as It bogged a few times, possibly because its not had its first service yet! Ops... came out in discussion when I took it back.
Anyway, nice machine, but comfortable getting back on mine

I do, it's for emergencies like you've mentioned.Frankie wrote:Dropped off the bike for a service. I was planning to take out the 900 XR, however that is no longer on the demo list. So asked if they have the new S1000R on the list and was it free. Yes it was, so took it out for a nice little spin.

You have to pay for air in UK?? That’s nuts.

SIL's Neighbour is a biker (never met him) - i'll go ask him if he can help.
Yep - no problem - i'll charge it for you on my optimate - wheel it into my garage - come back Friday.
Result - considering the faff otherwise.
We are a good community.
All sorted and charged - he'd even opened the garage and checked the bike for my arrival. Top work.

I’d get the reg/rec checked, Cookie.

Went on a club ride. 12 of us. Rode round Herefordshire and Shropshire. Roads were a bit too greasy for my liking but hey ho. Ran a squirrel over on the way to the meeting point I was following a lorry, squirrel came out of a hedge, darted back in and then darted back out under my front wheel.

It was described to me as "riding on Marshmallows" ha ha - So that explains it, and very knackering.Perkles wrote:That’s where I’ve been, most physical track I’ve ever ridden today because it got rutted and big holesFrankie wrote:Sorry mate just seen your message, I was supposed to be going to a new one today as well, had to cancel, back is playing up so thought better of it, and give it time to settle down.Perkles wrote:Prepped the Mx bike going to a new track tomorrow
