Pretty much! Jess said I look like a criminalC00kiemonster wrote:Prison haircut!kiwikrasher wrote:So after being in lockdown before I went to work it has been some time since a haircut, so I bought some clippers (we can do click and collect and quarantine staff collect it for us) and watched a barber tutorial on YouTube for a self cut.
Yeah I can do this I thought.
Well turns out the cheap clippers I bought set numbers are no where near what they are in a hairdressers and it all went pear shaped and I now have the shortest haircut I’ve ever had since I did my basic training in the Air Force. It’s about a 3-4 on top and 1-2 on sides.
Let’s say I’ve found the limit of Jess’ humour, she is not impressed
The good news is I probably won’t need another hair cut this year

Re: What are you doing today ??
So I just had a google and my clippers settings are in mm. I assumed a #1 #2 etc related to mm.
So where I went 3 on sides and 8 on top I’ve actually given myself a #1 on sides and a #2.5 on top.

I'd just Bic it all off at that point and literally start from 'scratch', so-to-speak.... it'll be back before you know it, Kojak.

Re: What are you doing today ??
Ok, might as well let everyone have a good laugh.
So how I started. I keep my hair reasonable short normally anyway so this was getting a bit fluffy for me.
Set the comb to 3 (which I now know was a #1) and did this and went ‘f*ck*
Thought I could recover at that stage and set 8 on top, I really should have thought about why the sides went so short at that stage maybe
Never got a pic of the first run on top but was a bit more expletives and then realised I was committed
End result

I don’t mind it either tbh, much easier to deal with!C00kiemonster wrote:I have to say it doesn't look bad at all.
I just FaceTimed my kids. Byron first and he was very polite but could see a little smirk and when I said that now I know what went wrong I could cut his hair when I’m back. “Yeah, I’m not so sure about that” was his reply
Then I call Jorja, and I knew she’d have no filter, so I had the back camera on facing the TV while I told her the story, then flipped to the screen camera. She didn’t stop laughing for about 5 minutes

Sure I have but would’ve been years ago.. and I’m terrible for remembering movies.Kwacky wrote:Have you never seen Full Metal Jacket?
Might have to watch it again in quarantine
Edit: just watched the trailer and yeah definitely seen it. But forgotten enough to make a watch worthwhile again

Private Pyle - part of project 100,000 or MacNamara's Morons , a terrible decision by the US to lower the IQ standards for military personnel , they had a death rate in Vietnam 3 times that of your ordinary GI .kiwikrasher wrote:Who’s that?Kwacky wrote:
