I was always of the mind that the people left behind could do what they liked. But today I’ve seen how much effort is taken up in decision making between multiple family members when wishes had not been expressed in certain areas.
It was exhausting

Right now I've just caught, moved, & released a small bird that was trapped & looking a bit injured inside my roommate's boat.
The cat, who also showed a keen interest in said bird, is giving me that "What the fcuk is your problem??"- look.
Bird - 1.
Cat - nil.
Lolz @ cat.

Re: What are you doing today ??
Just got back from taking my mum over to Sheffield for a trip to the Northern General Hospital, all sorted in a couple of hours and should have result's next week. With the current situation she was instructed to not use public transport or a taxi so it was arranged for my week off. She also has her 2nd Covid injection this afternoon.
Next up is getting tyres sorted for the car... I would take the bike out but I smashed a fairing the other day, replacement should be in at the dealer today or tomorrow.
Edit
Car is now sat on a set of cheap 307 alloys with winter tyres whilst the proper ones are getting powder coated gloss black.
Did the weekly shopping.
Fairings showed up at the dealership so are now on the bike... Caspian Blue is gorgeous when it's not got 16 years of sun fade... Better get the polish out.

Re: What are you doing today ??
Jess had bought her son tickets to the musical Hamilton for Christmas, and it was on today. Bit of cheer was on order.
So while they went to that, Leila and I kicked around the city together, first time we’ve had one on one time like that, and she was great company.

Looked at some small fish tanks for my office.
Bought some crickets for the spiders
Pressure washed the patio, path and some other bits
Bought some garden furniture
Set up the free standing boxing bag

Re: What are you doing today ??
Before I started messing with the bike I rounded up a load of cardboard boxes and folded them up in to one bigger box and a bag of packing stuff to take to the tip along with some used engine oil.
No problems except they insisted that I take the oil containers away with me, a look online sent me to the Oil care website, which said to dispose of them at my local oil bank, which is at the tip where they wouldn't accept them
So now I have some used oil containers and not much clue what to do with them.

Re: What are you doing today ??
Detailed Jess car. We are tasked with transporting her mum to the service tomorrow and she is rather large and post stroke so climbing up into my 4WD isn’t going to feasible.
But Jess’ car hasn’t had any attention for a long while. Still half full of stuff from her move and enough dry grass from sports weekends to feed a herd of cattle for a week!! It was literally a car sized version of a women’s handbag, full of crap!!
Took me 3 hours but had it spick inside and clean on the outside. Took to a few scuffs with cut and polish which has improved its appearance somewhat.

Went and did a little shopping at Guitar Center for some odds & ends. God, there's a lot of crap in that place these days. They're really thin on higher end gear, while the low-end stuff isn't really low-end any more....at least not from a $$$$ perspective. Fairly disappointing.

It seems likely that retail shops will all be going that direction, as a direct result of competition from the internet.: In order to remain profitable, whilst bearing the costs of staff, business rates, etc etc... they will need to make more profit per transaction.D41 wrote:Went and did a little shopping at Guitar Center for some odds & ends. Therefore inevitably they will aim at a higher profitability market sector, where also the customers will (by their nature) also be less price driven.
Retailing, rather than simply obtaining necessary goods, seems to have become a "leisure pastime" for many social groups over recent decades. I can quite see that "pastime" becoming increasingly aspirational as time goes on.?

The cost of raw materials have gone up as well so there is going to be a knock on effect from that.
