Putin is very clever. He plays the long game. There's no doubt he's testing not only our reaction to the presence of Russian ships but how the UK and EU co-operate to deal with it (or don't).

WTF... Did I miss something here, wasn't the point of years of austerity to REDUCE borrowing?
That chart seems to show exactly the opposite. If that's the case, while we where stripping public services where the hell has all that money gone?

Re: The Daily Post Election Politics Thread
In ten years they have doubled the UK debt but made it a worse place to live. Genius.

Re: The Daily Post Election Politics Thread
The PM has appointed 16 more peers to the House of Lords, bringing the total since he was elected to 52. Many of those recent appointments are Tory donors.
The grand total in the House of Lords is 832.
The announcements have been made when Parliament is not sitting, for the second time.

I see Starmer is still making friends in the labour party.
He is right, it's better than no deal. I can't see any point in rejecting it despite how crap it is. There's too many Tories backing it so why not abstain or tell his MPs to do what they like? It's all a token protest anyway.

Its better to accept the Deal as is and then try and make changes if he next becomes the PM.

Fwiw I think I agree with Duke.duke63 wrote:Its better to accept the Deal as is and then try and make changes if he next becomes the PM.
Whilst I'm sick to the stomach at the depletion of our country that this devolution will achieve and the prospect of the austere times ahead that will be resultant , nonetheless "No Deal" will have an even more instant impact won't it.?

Re: The Daily Post Election Politics Thread
Twitter is awash with Tory MPs claiming that THEY have got rid of the hated tampon tax when in fact many of them voted against its abolition just a couple of years ago.
What absolute scummy barstards this lot are. It is without doubt the worst Government in my lifetime.

If that is true, there should be a thorough investigation & substantial punitive penalties for those responsible.
