Fingers crossed it's nothing more than a security alert.

I think it was as local radio just said flights is now being disembarked and other flights are now allowed to land.
Good test for emergency services and government agencies as sounds like a full scale response was actioned.
Will watch the local news tonight for a full report.

Just seen local news.
Passengers onboard didn't really notice anything and one passenger arrested on the basis of making a hoax bomb threat.
All ended well, thank god.

Re: RAF fighter escorted a Qatar airways plane into Manchest
Isn't there a specific offence of endangering a plane?

I don't think that was a film, so much as another crime.!Blade wrote:I think they made a film about it, snakes on a plane or something

Don't get it, what options does the Typhoon pilot have?

Neither do I. Either let the plan go where it wants or shoot it down?Monty wrote:Don't get it, what options does the Typhoon pilot have?

He shoots it down if he thinks it's about to endanger people on the ground, I guess. Not sure how that works though. I suspect the RAF pilot does simple maths and works out how many more might die on the ground as those on the plane will die anyway.

The pilot doesn't make the decision but yeah, that's about it. If the plane is diverted then it gets knocked down. No more 9/11s

Do they have side ways firing missiles ?
Seems strange to me they fly parallel, you would think they would fly behind so could easily take aim.

It's too monitor the cockpit. They try to maintain visual contact.
It won't take much for a fighter plane to drop back and take out a large commercial plane.
