I see another U-turn on lockdown legislation has been pushed through
Pubs to remain open, but can only serve takeaway alcohol that's been pre-ordered online. Because of course people would never order 10 pints and the stand in the carpark for 3 hours collecting them.

I still can't work out why kids can travel on public transport and go to school but they're not allowed to play sports outside of school hours.
It's a farce. I know a lot of pubs and bars are having last day events today, which means you'll have a load of people going out. Which is not what you need before a lockdown designed to slow the spread.

Because the kids can spread the infection amongst each other to a similar extent, however for after school sports activities they are predominantly accompanied by their adults who will congregate ???

I will be surprised if pubs and maybe restaurants too, are allowed to be open at Xmas and New Year. It would not be a good time to reopen them if we are serious about bringing this under control.
A friend's son lives in Switzerland. he told me yesterday they expect to run out of IC beds this week.

That makes sense I suppose.
So ban the parents. I know for some sports, especially martial arts, parents aren't allowed to watch.

Except that (pretty much all) sports activities require the children to be transported to the venue by their adults, don't they.
So whilst "just ban the parents" seems an easy response, in reality....
Kwacky wrote:But a child is just as likely to do that travelling to and from school, going to lessons and playing sports at school.
The point I'm making (badly) is that the reasoning for banning outdoor activities seems to be flawed when you look at what you can do.
I was also trying to make the same point, and probably doing a worse job of it.
The rules of this lockdown make it a largely pointless exercise. There are too many stupid people who will be incapable of using commonsense to stop the spread, but I think this is what clown boy wants. His scape goat, the fact that it will cost many lives seems inconsequential to him and the Tories in general.

The Swedish model is shite. They're currently recording over 1,300 a day more positive tests than they had at the peak of the first wave. Their death rate is appalling compared to their neighbours.
Either we have a lock down or we don't. This is another half arsed job. All of the stats show that schools/colleges/Unis were the cause of the current peak.
The government's own experts said yesterday that they didn't want to stop outdoor sports.

Because the first two are regulated to a large extent, and the last option is a bit random and all-encompassing??
