You couldn’t make it up. The most serious pandemic in one hundred years and the UKs response is handed out to a bunch of muppets....by a bunch of muppets.

Corrupt government, secret handshakes, and backhanders.

In other news, the government has decided they look bad in the coronavirus wake. So they've decided to change the figures on who died of coronavirus to make them look better.

Spain is not looking good..... as we seem to be three to four weeks behind them, wait to see what happens here at the end of August !

Watching a report on the virus, the Italians showed what they are doing to fight this, very interesting. If this is working it begs the question why this tech has not found an answer to colds and flu? This has been around a lot longer to work on!

You can get vaccinated against the flu....but there's dozens of different strains of the common cold....so maybe the problem lies in coming up with a cure-all that'll cover all or most types of cold??

Holy crap!! There's @ 160 different types of cold, apparently.

That's just what I need....160 different needles in my arm to stop me sneezing. Nope.

The R number in Brum is going up very quickly.

Possible it will be added to the places locked down in the new couple of weeks.

My brother was telling me last night the doctors have learned better ways to prevent more patients ending up on ventilators but once they end up on them they still struggle to keep patients alive.

He also said many Trusts will run out of cash over winter unless the Government provides them with more money.

To date the NHS have thrown away £150 million worth of PPE where the Government gave contracts to companies with no experience of providing PPE (usually linked to advisers or cabinet members) and the goods supplied were not fit for purpose.

Genuine question. The goverment may have award big contracts but have they paid for them?

If the goods are not as specified its a non conformance and therefore no requirement for payment.

I'm sure they're getting their PPE from wherever they can, whenever they can - and if it works, great...if it doesn't, they'll go elsewhere, and deal with the consequences later.
I think many aspects of this whole pandemic are seeing govts. - and entire countries, basically on a war footing.

Thats poor if they are not as specified. I certainly wouldn't have paid for "not fit for purpose" goods.

If they supplied what they were contracted to supply, then the fact that the items were not suitable, it will be said that is not their problem.

Bit like you going into a bike dealer, and buying a 916sps, then refusing to pay because it's hopeless for commuting from Romford to Lambeth. ?

To be fair, by the time someone is put on a ventilator, their condition is already fairly dire....they've already got one foot in the departure lounge, as it were.

The news is full of sending kids back to school.
I dont understand the logic, With areas of gatherings still being locked down, how on earth can a school be a good place?

1, School has always been a breading ground for anything that kids can catch!
2, Parent gathering when collecting and picking kids up!

I really cannot see how this is a good idea. I welcome your thoughts (those with kids at school) there may well be valid reasons, but I really cant see any.
