Re: Coronavirus - hype or pandemlc?
That was from the Minnesota Department of Health, in conjunction with the CDC, if I'm reading it correctly.
It is Minnesota though, so practically almost Canada, ehh?

Re: Coronavirus - hype or pandemlc?
**** the statistics, and **** the government advice, the overriding message I'm getting from my friends and family working on the front line in the NHS is to stay at home no matter how old you are.
The government isn't your friend and right now you're just a number.

Re: Coronavirus - hype or pandemlc?
thats what the figures seem to be saying , only 2162 of the dead have tested positive .Kwacky wrote:So what you're saying is that only 2000 people have died from Covid 19?
I don't know if the tests are faulty or if the remaining deaths were caused by something else or a variety of something else's .

Re: Coronavirus - hype or pandemlc?
That doesn't make sense . How do we know that they died of the virus if they were not tested ?
So people are being admitted to hospital during a pandemic and not being tested for the cause of the pandemic ?
That seems ludicrous to me .

Re: Coronavirus - hype or pandemlc?
On face value, the ONS data is the most accurate, however, "if a Doctor suspects Covid" they can classify the death as Covid. Also, if it's mentioned I would have to assume that gets counted under the 'covid death' category as that last time I checked ONS it doesn't have a specific category for "deaths with covid mentioned".
My view is that I will continue to distance from 2m and keep my hygiene as good as possible. I don't want to be asymptomatic and unwittingly give it to people and I don't want to contract it either.
While I'm talking about it, old people are so fecking ignorant, rude and appalling! There's your typical chavvy youth that you expect to not give a crap but even then they will typically apologise if you say something, but old people! They brush past you, you can feel their breath on you, they stand directly behind you while you're reaching a bottom shelf and you inevitably stand on them when you get back up and they are so rude when you say anything. F#CK OFF BARBARA!!!

Fwiw I've been staggered by the attitude of a good number of "more senior" people during this pandemic.Cav wrote:.......While I'm talking about it, old people are so fecking ignorant, rude and appalling!....!
Obviously there are those who have been terrified by a combination of the media coverage etc.. to the point that it has developed into mental health issues that will likely remain with them long after this episode has ended, probably for their remaining time imho.
However there are also a good number I have come across who are utterly dismissive of the recommendations, despite the fact that it is they who would be most likely to be seriously affected if they were to become infected. Belligerent unreasonable and stubborn, they are very challenging to deal with. All successful outcomes achieved I feel are attained very much "against their will" (and unlikely to change their behaviour in the medium to longer term).

They probably believe that if they “breathe hard” everything will be ok

They voted for the almighty BOJO the clown. He will protect everybody and the virus will just leave the UK because he comes up with a catch phrase.Monty wrote:They probably believe that if they “breathe hard” everything will be ok
The sense of self entitlement in the older generations now is quite staggering. They won, they are right, end of.

Re: Coronavirus - hype or pandemlc?
It appears that a lot of the older generation have simply carried on as normal. I noticed that at the start of lockdown that the majority of the cars on the roads were being driven by OAPs.

Younger people tend to adapt more readily...older folk are more set in their ways - their greater experience works against them, I think.

Re: Coronavirus - hype or pandemlc?
And it finally hits home...
Fire Dept. & Paramedics just leaving the house right now with the house manager (I'm in a sober living house).
Male, 60+ years, several underlying health conditions including diabetes, displaying all the fun Covid-19 symptoms. Collapsed this morning...and to be honest it's lucky I was there to see him do it - pure chance....otherwise he'd probably still be laid out as he doesn't have the strength to raise his voice right now, much less his own body-weight.
