We've never done puppies before, and when we were looking for Kiera we were surprised at how difficult it was to find Shepherds these days. Normally we would have her sterilised about now (she's two, and the current thinking is that is the age that apparently offers the best long term health advantages).
Difficult decision... :S

If she's healthy and you've got the paperwork then a litter might be good. It keeps the breed going and there's the money side of it as well which is always a bonus.

A few years ago HMRC had a crack down on selling of puppies. I ended up with one of those cases.

Some people were making big money out of it.

Look on places like Gumtree and you'll soon see it's a nice little cottage industry for some people.

A mate of mine just paid a few hundred pounds for a cross breed. It's madness.

I'm not a fan of dog breeding at home, there are plenty of pedigree breeders and loads of dogs out there.

There are some seriously expensive puppies out there for some breeds - up to 3k for some.

I've sent an email to the head of department asking if there's any chance of me having my own case load. It's a polite way of asking if I can stop working for my boss.

Spending company time reading redundancy policies and statements from the company.

We've been notified collective consultancy end dates and anticipated notice of "at risk" dates. I should be hearing if I'm at risk in the next 2 weeks.

It also says that we will be asked not to come in after being placed at risk, though they aren't calling it garden leave.

They have to be careful with garden leave, it's usually very restrictive.

In what respect do they need to be careful?

Because you're limited as to what you can and cannot do and where you need to be during work times. It usually prevents you from going near clients or competitors. You would be classed as an employee so you would get full rights and benefits.

So the employee needs to be careful? The frustrating thing with it is that you can't start working for another company while on garden leave

Sorry if I'm not clear.

The employer needs to be careful because if they call it garden leave they have to set out to you the terms under which you are on garden leave which will include you having full rights as you do at present. It also means you're heavily restricted in looking for work which is unfair on you if you've been told you've lost your job, so you could challenge that.

Does that make sense?

That makes sense, Kwacky.

I'm not chartered if that's what you mean. I have the qualifications and experience of an Engineer. I'm currently on the market in the mid 30s which is about right for my commutable area. So many roles are trying to get away with paying very little for engineers and those roles haven't shifted for numerous weeks.

I've been approached for jobs in some high end companies, a few of which would be very nice on my CV and are well known for offering career progression so fingers crossed I can get one of those. Or at least an interview.

I have been asked if I would consider a Senior Technician role instead of the Engineer role and I'm a bit conflicted. I've sent my CV in for it and this company is one of the ones known for promoting from within but I don't know how it will appear that I've gone from Engineer back to Technician.

Struggling to stay awake.

Baby doggie had her op yesterday and struggled with the pain last night, so very little sleep. Going to do close to cock all today and try and catchup up with 40 winks if i get chance.

Some painkillers for doggie this morning has helped her.
