3 mile tailback on the motorway for nothing. I do love being on a bike when the traffic is like that.

There was nothing to rubber neck. There really was no reason whatsoever for the tailback.

The forecast was good so I'm out in summer leathers and a dark visor.

You have no idea
You're not really cold on a bike until it's set in to your legs.

For me it's the hands, feet and mouth.. once they're cold I don't stop shivering until I get in a warm shower

I dont know mate Im pretty hardcore to be fair. Just done 30 minutes over the tops and stopped for a coffee and big wedge of cake snuggled by a radiator in a little cafe. No mean feat, and the cake is huge

I can get this without riding a bike these days, it gets right into my bones. The only way to get rid of it is a hot water bottle.Kwacky wrote:Blade wrote:The forecast was good so I'm out in summer leathers and a dark visor.

Nice warm bath, and a change into soft dry clothes.?duke63 wrote:I can get this without riding a bike these days, it gets right into my bones. The only way to get rid of it is a hot water bottle.Kwacky wrote:....you have no idea

Fwiw I used to think that you had only been really cold, when your legs had started to seize up at the end of the ride.
However, for balance, bike gear was nowhere near as good back when I was prepared to allow myself to get that cold.

Anxious to get a few more weather rides in before the weather turns, I got a cheeky hour on the bike tonight.
Felt pretty good. Especially considering I didn't need to resort to Google Maps to find my way around.

Just took the wheels off to have the Metzelers fitted. Its a long time since i took a rear wheel off anything other than a single sided swingarm.

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
Took the Multi out for a couple hour run around the mountains loop. Last chance before heading out to work next week.
About a 1/4 the way into the ride I came behind a guy loaded up with soft panniers. Couldn’t quite tell what it was from behind. He was going ok but I was out solo in sports mode so wanted to boogie. Got an opportunity to get around him and opened up, few minutes down the road check the mirrors, he’s right up my arse. Cool, got some company for my hoon. About another 10 km up the road I turned off onto the causeway that links the two main roads that transverse the mountain range west of Sydney. It’s usually very quiet and nice mix of sweepers and a few tighter corners. I open the hammer and smash it at about 80%. I’m talking 140-170 km and using all the tyre. His lights drift back a bit but more he’s given room due to the speed rather than can’t keep up. It’s only 15 odd kms till we are in the next town and back to a highway. I’m turning left. He’s turning right. I get to have a look at the bike. It’s a KTM 640 Adventure with knobbly tyres and full packed with luggage I was very impressed
He gave me a double thumbs up and rode off!!!
On the way down the highway there’s lots of little towns and slow speeds zones so I’m behaving mostly. On a two lane boring bit, travelling at the speed limit I see what I think is a radar gun pointed at me. Guy is in civi dress but looks very cop like. As I get closer I see it’s a camera and he’s tracking me. I look back as I pass him and he’s still tracking me with the camera.
Very bizarre and I’m now worried something I’ve done earlier in the ride has got me in trouble and it was a copper getting evidence on my bike and plate number. Guess I’ll have to wait and see.

Seems a bit odd, unless he's just some weirdo who likes bikes?

Could have been tracking you to see if you'd rinse it once you'd passed him ??

Maybe, wasn’t really the spot for it, 70 area double lanes, built up area.Cav wrote:Could have been tracking you to see if you'd rinse it once you'd passed him ??

That sounds prime for a quick acceleration with no traffic to me..
