Re: The next prime minister
Trump, Johnson, Farage.....none of those sort of people will improve anything in your life, they will only make it worse.
I guarantee that will be true. That is how their politics work. Eventually you will be the one they are pointing the finger at as a problem. That is their way.

Re: The next prime minister
Just a quick question, I notice a couple of people are socialist on here , where did your vote go before Corbyn became leader of the labour party ?
What will you do if he is ousted especially if the result in Peterborough goes the way most think it will ?

Disliking the current Tory party does not make someone socialist.
I have voted for whoever I thought was the best option at the time. I don't understand why someone would always vote for the same party. It's that sort of thinking that has got us in the mess. Politicians love people who don't need persuading to vote for them. It effectively means they can do what the **** they want.
It's also strange we see so many rants over the Brexit vote not being implemented by Parliament. I have to ask how has it ever been any different?

Re: The next prime minister
I am not a socialist , however I do believe that there are some policies/beliefs that I hold could be considered so .
I believe there should be a fairer distribution of wealth , how that would be achieved without penalising hard workers and entrepreneurs I have no idea.
I believe that things that are vital for everyday modern life should not be controlled by profit making organisations , ie: water , power generation and distribution , certain essential telecoms , ports , airports , rail and roads .

Almost verbatim how I was going to respond to BB's enquiry Jack. I relented, in the assumption that there was some McCarthyism thread somewhere I'd missed, unmasking Blade Monty Rossgo Frankie etc,,,

I'm allergic to socialism and socialists.
The allergy is that severe, that when I meet Monty I have to be sealed head to toe in leather, wear a full face mask and have a high speed get away vehicle on close standby

Too many people think socialism is all about giving everything to everyone and that hard work isn't rewarded.

Re: The next prime minister
I think Jack is right. The basic necessities in life should not be run by organisations with shareholders. That doesn't mean to say they have to be Government run and owned. Co operatives are a good idea in some situations.
I do know that the current system is not sustainable. Too much of the U.K. Wealth is based on rising property and land prices and to make that happen they have to load more debt onto the majority.
We are no longer a Nation of manufacturers. Service industries are becoming more and more computerised. Even my job sector probably won't exist in 20 years time.
I have no idea how future Governmentswill ensure sufficient employment to make the UK financially viable.

Re: The next prime minister
I don't know what your understanding of what a Socialist actually is, but I'm a Democratic Socialist, just like Corbyn, Mcdonnell and many thousands of the Party membership. I'm a life long Labour member, activist and campaigner with a short break around the second Iraq war. I came back to the Party after Milliband's lacklustre austerity lite defeat and just before Corbyn won the leadership.bb41 wrote:Just a quick question, I notice a couple of people are socialist on her , where did your vote go before Corbyn became leader of the labour party?

I have always voted Labour, sometimes reluctantly with one tactical vote to the Lib-Dems when I lived in Surrey. (never again)
I'm obviously supportive of JC, but not because I think he's the next messiah, simply because I believe in the same things. But it's not just about one person and JC would be the first person to say that, it's a movement.
The Labour Party waxes and wanes from the centre to the left, it always has since it's inception 119 years ago.
