Re: The new improved fitness thread
Back session last night.
I had to have a word with my PT for his constant touching of my back. I don't mind him checking to make sure I'm engaging the right muscles but at one point it was every rep on every set. I don't think he realised he was doing it.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
10k trail run tonight, decided to get out and have a blast. Got round in 58 mins, which is the first time in over a year to 18 months I've been able to get to that kind of peace.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
Tune to get back to proper training.
Did my first coached club session yesterday in ages. Progressive 9-9-9.
Warmup, then.
9 mins at marathon pace
9 mins at half marathon pace
9 mins at 10k pace
No rest between sets. I was fecked at the end, but did manage a 7:30 mile in the last set.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
Talking of running my mate did the London Marathon in a time of 2 hours 41 minutes. Not bad for a middle aged bloke.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
Only 2 hours and 41 minutes - I did a marathon once and I was running for nearly 5 hours!!! None of these so called athletes can run that long from what I’ve seen......

Re: The new improved fitness thread
That's insane. Our fastest club runner did London last week in 2:58 and he's fecking quick.
@TriumphFan I'll see your 5 hours and raise you. I did a 50k last year and that took 8 and a half hours. Was fecking hot though, 31 degrees.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
Well I've been working on my knee mobility ( 0 degrees - 100 degrees now )
I've also been working on my crutch balance, abs, dips and attempting to retain some muscle in my left quad purely by tensing

I can’t imagine anything worse, I can’t run the length of myself in the heat.D6Nutz wrote:

Re: The new improved fitness thread
Me neither, with the training of put in it should have only taken about 5 to 5 and a half hours. I vowed never to do any long distance ever again.TriumphFan wrote:I can’t imagine anything worse, I can’t run the length of myself in the heat.D6Nutz wrote:

Well that worked as I've already done one marathon this year and I'm planning at least one more

Re: The new improved fitness thread
I did a marathon back in 2011, enjoyed it so much signed up for another straight away.
Quickly realised during recovery that 1 marathon was an achievement and any more would just be plain daft, so cancelled my entry..

It's a quiet afternoon.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
I've gone back to the 5x5 with 10 minutes cardio either side. No real reason for the change, I just fancied a swap.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
It's got to be done sometimes.
It's important to give a program sufficient time for it to work, but just as important to listen to your body and change if you feel like it.
I went from my 5 times a week high rep workout, to a 3 day a week workout which is totally different, and it has me chomping at the bit to get the next workout done. I have more energy and I'm never dreading any workout.

The 5x5 is working. I went to the gym today and everywhere is aching.
