Decent back session tonight. It's always rewarding seeing the gym poseurs having to take plates off when they've waited for you to finish.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
Back in to the gym tonight - other than my karate haven’t exercised properly for about a year - gonna be tender tomorrow.
Got myself an 8-4 office job last May and put on about 3 stone - it needs to come off!!!

Re: The new improved fitness thread
Yeah, when I was on shift, I’d pretty much be in gym on all my days off when kids were at school. Usually a good couple of hours spent gym, pool, sauna etc. Went from very active to very little.
Karate is OK but can be hit or a miss as to how much of a proper workout it is, depending on whether training for grading or comps.
Just need to get back in to it, and not using ‘family time’ as an excuse not to go in the evenings...

It's the same with taekwondo. Some weeks we just do stretches and patterns so it's not a work out.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
I've tweaked the head of my biceps at the shoulder joint so gym last night was a bit of an easy session.
My weight is dropping. I was 14 stone 4 at the start of the new year. It did drop to 13/7 but it's staying round 13/9 at present. Target is 13 but that might be a bit low for me.
I was chatting to one of the bare knuckle boxers in the gym. He's had to opt out of a fight last weekend as his wife was due to give birth. She didn't want his face all messed for the photos

Depends on your cake intake!
How selfish of her!Kwacky wrote: I was chatting to one of the bare knuckle boxers in the gym. He's had to opt out of a fight last weekend as his wife was due to give birth. She didn't want his face all messed for the photos
The last few weeks have seen lacklustre attempts to get to the gym, obviously recent circumstances have contributed to my apathy towards it, but I had to get back into it.
So I've changed my training plan. It's known as the "Doggcrapp Method", or DC Training.
Only 3 sessions a week, and only 5 different exercises per session, and only one working set of each exercise.
It doesn't sound enough to ellicit any gains when you read it like that, but it's all in the application of those working sets that makes the magic happen.
Apparently.
There's more to it than I've written down, obviously, but I won't bore you with the details.
I'll see how I get on, but chest and back are still aching slightly from Monday, so signs are initially positive.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
I give up sweets and cakes etc for Lent so that's probably responsible for my weight loss

Re: The new improved fitness thread
I went to the gym but didn't do too much. I spent most of my time teaching my daughter how to do proper exercises properly. Instead of that shit she's picked up from Instagram.

Mrs Gee has given up chocolate in all forms and diet coke (what she drinks in lieu of alcohol) for lent, she’s complaining she doesn’t feel any better and hasn’t lost weight, however she’s drinking elderflower cordial and sparkling water and subbing fondant fancies and kids sweets like love hearts, refreshers and fruit salads instead of the chocolate.Kwacky wrote:I give up sweets and cakes etc for Lent so that's probably responsible for my weight loss
I can’t understand why she hasn’t seen any improvement.....

16 mile barstuard of trail race. Happy with my time though, still over 5 mins better than my previous time even though I gave up the last couple of miles to help a mate who was on a distance pb and starting to struggle a bit.

Twenty-odd mile cycle ride - with a long rest in the middle ......and the last five miles was sheer purgatory. A shower & a sit-down never felt so good.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
More DC training this morning.
It seems to suit me so far.
Not in the gym long enough to get bored or lose stamina, but definitely working hard enough to feel it for the next few days.
And with it only being 3 days a week I'm excited to get to the gym when it comes around, rather than having to force myself into it(or going back to sleep!) because I'm burnt out.
Whether I make any gains remains to be seen.
