Took it out for a "little bimble".
Found out that I've got a dodgy indicator, handy when your leading a ride also decided that I really do need to get some baffles, I've the sound but I think there is just a little too much of it.

Left it at home. I don't want to run the risk of using it if there's a leak.

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
Having had a couple of engine problems with Triumph in the past I've decided not to risk turning my IL4 into Kwak's latest triple
I might be fussing over nothing. There isn't much of a leak and it stopped very quickly but I prefer to have someone take a look at it. Especially with a track day coming up

Definitely worth getting it serviced then and bike will be tip top for summer when you get it back.Bratty wrote:Dropped the bike of at Honda and I've ridden to work on a Honda nc700 which was different, just had a call to say front brake pads need replacing.

Nice one Bratty. You need to give it a right good thrashing now to bed everything in

Jet washed it, mainly in an attempt to clean the discs and pads. Taking them apart looked far too much hassle.
Dunno if ti worked yet as the garage wasn't far from home and couldn't tell.
Also booked it in for its 9000+ mile 6000 miles service in 2 weeks time, when I will have done 10,000 miles.

Changed the hose on the hydraulic clutch and gave the bike a good check over before a run out tomorrow with the new Brembo clutch and brake master cylinders and sigma slipper clutch for the first time.
I'm hoping they will be worthwhile mods.

Struggling to find someone to deal with the bike. Mike is fully booked. The place local to me I trust can't get me in until the 14th. I've got a track day on the 15th.

Where is the leak, can you see the source? Is it much everyday?Kwacky wrote:Struggling to find someone to deal with the bike. Mike is fully booked. The place local to me I trust can't get me in until the 14th. I've got a track day on the 15th.

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
The leak is small. I only noticed it on Sunday but I'v eno idea how long it's been there. Oil level is low. Oil is coming from near the top of the engine block but I can't see the source without removing the tank and the fairings. It's on the right hand side but at the front of the block.

Hmm.
I guess it does need checking, sounds like a head gasket.
I would guess a spare bottle of oil for the trackday may be worthwhile...

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
I've spoken with Mike. He reckons it's a split gasket. I'll be ok to ride it if I don't go mad, so I'm taking it to him on Saturday. He'll drop it off when he's done the work.

That's good service. How many miles has it done? Not good when a gasket starts to go, but at least you noticed it in time.
