Not long. People have been talking about a new Daytona since they stopped making the 955.D41 wrote:How long has this bike been in the works/development now??
Feels like it's been years coming.

Re: Daytona 765
Ohlins suspension, TFT screen, rider modes and Brembo Stylema calpiers are a given.
Give it a real world punchy 135ish bhp, an alloy tank, forged wheels, decent electronics, carbon bodywork and pitch it under 14k and I reckon they would be queing round the corner to stick a deposit on one.
Hopefully only does good things to used D675 values too.

Re: Daytona 765
Do you think we'll see the first middleweight A2 supersport? Triumph could easily adopt the 765 / 765R / 765RS / 765A2 approach from the Street.
Going to be great to hear more of these triples on the roads, I do love the engine note

Re: Daytona 765
Only 26 days to Qatar Motogp round. Could Triumph do a launch to coincide with the first Moto2 race?

Re: Daytona 765
Without knowing the facts I would imagine it's going to be a new head on the 765RS engine from the street (more peak power) which is already a parts bin special from the 675 daytona - just bored out to it's maximum potential capacity.
It doesn't bother me whether it's parts bin or not but I imagine it will be. It doesn't bother me because it's still going to be the track bike to have and might attract people back onto sports bikes on the road. Either way, I won't be buying one so like I say - it doesn't bother me!

Not slagging it off mate, just meant as a bit of banter as effectively that is what it is, and no bad think for it either as its nicked all the good bits out of the parts bin
This is what I wrote earlier:
It will be a stunning bike and I can see me owning one but it's definitely something greater than the sum of its parts and hats of to Triumph for creating something great out of something fairly ordinary

Re: Daytona 765
To be honest the more I think about this the more I think its absolute genius by Triumph.
If they get the spec right this bike imo will be as desirable as a R1M or a Panigale V4 and Yamaha and Ducati had to start from the ground up with a blank canvas and a multi million pound design program to create those awesome machines.
Triumph have effectively created something comparable from an old, retired supersport bike chassis, some tasty bolt on's and a modern engine out of a novice friendly naked street bike.
Hats off Triumph. I want one, how do I pay a deposit

Like Porsche with the 911, Triumph got it so right the first timeStMarks wrote:Oi,, who's calling my beloved bike a "Sow's Ear"Blade wrote:.... out of a sow's ear
I can still remember test riding the original when it was first launched and not many bikes etch into your memory like that

I didn't like the 675 when I rode it. Sounded great, handled well, but it was like riding a fence post after the Daytona 600..

Re: Daytona 765
I know exactly what you mean mate. Fwiw I was "well bedded in" to my little Blade when I got my 675, & it felt incredibly narrow by comparison. Furthermore it felt like I was "sat above it" rather than "sitting in it", if you follow what I'm trying to say.D6Nutz wrote:I didn't like the 675 when I rode it. I have to say that (over time) I have found that the position it puts me in may seem awkward, however offers improved control when pushing on hard.

Re: Daytona 765
There wasn't a big enough gap between the 675 and my blinged up 600 for me to make the switch.
