Re: Europe 2019
I would love to to go the Pyrenees.
Need to work out the cost and time viability of it but could set up a base there and just ride round locally for a few days.
Ferry one way and stop off at Leigh's the other?
Need to do a bit of research.

Remember: If in Doubt use Full Throttle, It may not make the situation any better, But it will end the suspense...

Re: Europe 2019
It might be a bit far for me. It depends on sailings and the route down.
In 2020 I get an extra week's holiday from work. It's a reward they give you if you work for a full 10 years with them. I might do a longer tour then.

Re: Europe 2019
If you want really good roads and a country that is bike friendly?
Black Forest in southern Germany everytime for me.
I have been going there for 45+ years (I hope to retire there) and since I had sell up my holiday home, sometimes 3 or 4 times a year.
Fantastic roads, locals love bikes, Shwarzenback (which is a big resevoir) is a major meeting place for bikes also often running a run what you brung type road race meet around the dam.
Great food, stunning scenery and close to the Swiss and French borders (Strasburg) and an hours run from Hockenheim.

It is better to arrive 30 seconds late in this world than 30 years early in the next

Re: Europe 2019
Looking at the areas where we were, there is a lot to be visited still in and around that area as well.

Re: Europe 2019
How about riding down to Luxembourg on day one. Stopping there for either two or three nights so we can dump the gear. Ride round the area and then head back to Bruges for the last night?

Re: Europe 2019
Not a bad idea. It's not as far down as Metz so the first day should be a lot easier (famous last words).

Re: Europe 2019
I'd have to think about it as Metz was a long way for me, so Luxembourg might be too far sadly.

Re: Europe 2019
Another option is Orleans first night - two nights in Dijon and playing on the bikes in the Morvan area. Then next day wherever ( Le Mans?) on the way back.

Re: Europe 2019
I'd be happier with that as i can stay with you longer, purely a selfish attitude but with that i could do 4 nights.duke63 wrote:Another option is Orleans first night - two nights in Dijon and playing on the bikes in the Morvan area. Then next day wherever ( Le Mans?) on the way back.
Thing is, there is so much choice!
