I'm been a whiny brat to be honest, in two weeks I'll be home with 4 weeks off and temp's in the 30's. A bit of sleep deprivation will seem worth it then.Cavetroll87 wrote:Dude I do not envy you.
You can not envy me when I'm back out here on 3 weeks of night shift over Christmas and New years!

Re: What are you doing today ??
Last night shift then my 4 days off. My missus is off today so she knows I'll be tired but she does a good job at keeping me up. Sure we will go out for a nice walk with the dog and do a couple of bits but I will feel lile a zombie lol!

That first day off nights is something you never adjust too Rossgo, you’ll just learn how to survive it!

It's tough I must admit. Last week I had 3 cat naps of 30 mins each which to be fair lasted me until late night, but you do feel horrible lol!!

Good news, Kiwi! I know for certain I would not survive multiple night shifts and I would certainly struggle with a single night shift!

Drowning under emails.
For the last 8 years I've had a nice little system were I action an email, save it to the file and then delete it. I've never had more than 30 emails in my inbox. Any email in there is something to action.
I've now got 155
My boss sends me emails throughout the day. We've got a file system that tells you want needs doing on the file. I look at my schedule and I know what I've got to do. But she likes to email me. And copy me in on emails she sends out. So now I'm struggling to know what I'm supposed to be doing, because I'll get another email a few days later on the same file and I can't work out if that's as well as or in place of.
Oh well, she's on holiday next week and leaves in 2 months time.

Re: What are you doing today ??
The first two are the hardest mate, then it's a piece of piss until you come off again at the end. I used to do a 2 days 2 nights roster (like Rossgo does now) and found that harder to be honest. But I was commuting on that roster with a 1.5 hr drive after 12 hr night shift. At least here I just stumble to a cooked breakfast then into bed!Cav wrote:Good news, Kiwi! That sounds frustrating! I feel your pain to a certain extent, I got back after that 7 week break and had over 300 emails. Less than 20 was something I was actually concerned with or to action.Kwacky wrote:Drowning under emails.

Just back from emergency appointment at the vets. The lad had jumped off something and sheared off a claw to the bone - blood everywhere All sorted now and a very sorry looking dog. Giant idiot.

Re: What are you doing today ??
Kids are with grand parents so me and the missus are exploring the local area as a couple rather than parents.
Found a nice place for a curry and a bit of a pub crawl home.
Just got of nightshift so this could be messy.

Re: What are you doing today ??
Yesterday was spent washing the caravan inside and out ready for winter.
Rode up to stow, ate breakfast and cake. Got home, packed the caravan up and took it back down to the storage yard and tucked it up under it's winter cover. Popped down to see my parents. Got back and cleaned out the guinea of hutch. I'm knackered now.
