Fwiw the lanes where I live are that width (one car) with occasional "passing places" dotted along. However that looks a far nicer run, as mine has old hedges therefore lots of blind corners to meet the oncoming traffic round.Blade wrote:Why are you riding on a footpath

The roads my way are a little wider than that but not much, but also with high hedges.StMarks wrote:Fwiw the lanes where I live are that width (one car) with occasional "passing places" dotted along. Makes for a more entertaining ride though, beats blasting the same boring wide A road each time you go out.

Re: DaytonAndy's 1299s Panigale
I've fitted the Ducati Performance race seat and been out for a blast. It's taller than standard which seems to really improve your position on the bike. It's much easier to grip the tank now and it's more comfortable than standard as a bonus!
Up to now I've been running mostly in sport mode which uses engine mode medium. This means full power, smooth delivery. I think it maybe caps the power in the lower gears which is fine most of the time but it makes the bike quite hard to ride fast as there's a big step in power about 7-8000 rpm. It's hard to commit to the exit of a corner when you're worrying about the power suddenly coming on! Today I was really comfortable on the bike so I've changed to engine mode high which is full power, aggressive delivery. Soooo much better! You have to be more precise when applying the throttle as it just wants to lift the front wheel but it kind of suits the bike. That step in power is gone now so it's easier up the rev range to commit.
I don't think I've mentioned it before but the down blipper on the bike is sublime! It feeds in the perfect amount of revs so you don't need the clutch or to rev match while braking. I've always enjoyed blipping the throttle when going down through the box but like a quick shifter, once you've tried it, you wonder how you've ever managed without it! You can just devote all your attention to braking and then 'just' aiming the bike for the corner exit.
I just need more dry days like this now as I just want to ride it!

Re: DaytonAndy's 1299s Panigale
Had loads to do yesterday but the sun came out so I went out for a little run over to Capel-Curig in Snowdonia. Typically now summer's gone I feel like I'm starting to get to grips with the Pani a bit. I had an absolute blast! Went out much longer than I intended as it was getting cold and dark when I got in but probably had the best run I've had. The pop it makes every now and again when flat shifting when the exhaust is hot just encourages you to do bad things

Re: DaytonAndy's 1299s Panigale
Will just add though are you mad with those tyres, they are basically slicks. Are they any good for normal road use?

Re: DaytonAndy's 1299s Panigale
The photo files were too large to upload to Tankslap so I loaded them onto Imgur, not sure why you couldn't view them Ross. The tyres are Michelin's new power RS and are pretty good in all conditions including heavy rain! They don't look like they should be but it's to do with clever stuff about how the tyres flex and change shape under load! As a road tyre they really are very good!

I don't know mate the only thing I can think is maybe it's the to using my phone and not a laptop? But anyway seen them now, cracking shots!
That's incredible i assumed they would be woeful for the colder British roads even through the summer not to mention anything about rain...they just look like rubber with some niks in them!

Are they the tyres you did your Euro trip on Andy? How many miles have they covered so far?
