BP Pay first policy for Bikers
https://smidsy.org/2017/08/31/bp-garage ... l-upfront/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Phil Collinson posted an image of a sign hung up at the fuel pump onto Facebook group, East Yorkshire Mag, after trying to fill up his tank stating:
“Please come in and pay for your fuel first. This is a new company policy. Your pump will not be started unless you do so.”
Mr Collinson wrote:
“When they’d finished announcing over the tannoy that we had to go inside and pay first, we put our money back away and filled up elsewhere.”
This has apparently come after the garage had seen a lot of non payers ride off without paying. Bikers have apparently been singled out due to the garages CCTV struggling to pick up bike number plates.

Wouldn't bother me one little bit.
Try putting something else in your vehicle before you've paid for it & let me know how the court case goes...

Re: BP Pay first policy for Bikers
That's fine with me...id pay a fiver and fill up for a full tank...pretty sure those pumps aren't pumping out a certain amount, they have to manually override the pump to stop it. Thanks!!
No on a serious note id ride off and go elsewhere. Although I'm not surprised some garages are starting this because let's face it this sort of crime is on the rise. Although it's not just bikes cars are also doing it but you at least get CCTV of people's faces unlike the bike riders. Defo go elsewhere!!

Re: BP Pay first policy for Bikers
I will not be partaking in this crap... I noticed today, that shell have an app that allows you to pay on line while you are at the pump, I think I will look at this in more detail.
It's all down to these bloody scrotes on scooters no doubt, nicked bikes, nicked fuel.

Its because they want you to go in the shop and pay even more money.Kwacky wrote:I don't know why more places don't have pay at the pump

The thing is, with contactless payment, I walk in, tap the screen and walk out. I don't ask for a receipt.

Re: BP Pay first policy for Bikers
Yes i do agree. No idea why pay at the pump isn't used more in the UK...... other than if you don't go in the shop they cannot take more money off you.

Re: BP Pay first policy for Bikers
I have my certain stations I use, where they know me and never ask me to take off my lid, I try and avoid any of the lid off places, I wouldnt mind paying in advance as long as I don't have to take my lid off before hand too as its a pain, especially in the wet
Remember: If in Doubt use Full Throttle, It may not make the situation any better, But it will end the suspense...

Re: BP Pay first policy for Bikers
I always use the 24hr pumps over here when i can. Saying that - never an issue with bikers anyway frankly.

The cynic in me says we ride because we're different but don't like it when we're treated differently

Re: BP Pay first policy for Bikers
Apparently the sign got taken down shortly after it went viral anyway.
A US Facebook motorbike page I'm on (no idea why, must've clicked something years ago) has shared it and the overwhelming majority of responses are along the lines of...
"What's the big deal? It's like this everywhere."
Not quite as polite as that, but yeah.
I guess things are different across the pond!

Re: BP Pay first policy for Bikers
Never really seen pay before you full in the UK but have encountered it a few times in Europe and I don't like it. Mainly as I have no idea how much I want to put in, till it's in. How do I pay for something I don't know how much I want or need. Not so bad in a car with a fuel gauge and a large tank so 5 or 10 litres short of being full won't habe any impact but that's a huge amount in a bike tank.
