It seems speed camera guidelines have been quietly dropped recently allowing councils to do what they want.

Does the money go to the government? I thought It was shared between the police and the local council. Or has that changed (if I've got it right, which is rare )

No idea but either way it reduces the burden on central government.
I've noticed a number of new style camers being put up round here recently and also noticed cameras attached to the side of the gantries in the section of M6 from Jctn 11 north which i think are these.

They are also painted grey and not yellow.

I do wonder if a speed camera detector may be in order, illegal or not.

Re: Watchout, there's a horsebox about
The ones that have the database of camera locations and alert you may do you some good but the ones that detect laser targeting are pretty pointless aren't they? Lasers travel at 300km/s by the time the device registers its been pinged its probably to late, by the time its flashed an alert and your brain has registered it then sudden breaking wont change the max speed reading. I put that to a manufacturer of them and they declined to reply to my email. Only edge I can see is that you can flag the location on your group database so no one else gets stung.C00kiemonster wrote:I do wonder if a speed camera detector may be in order, illegal or not.

In the Isle of Man they don't have speed cameras.
They tried but apparently the locals objected and shotguns and burning tyres are apparently very effective objections so I'm told

That's true, the locals didn't like them.
But the Isle of Man has a very active and sensible police force, who are out on the streets.

Re: Watchout, there's a horsebox about
This is brilliant idea by them! Have they a actually bought the tractors...at least now they really can follow criminals over any terrain haha!
Joking aside their barstards ent they. I remember up in Lincolnshire skeggness the gits were jumping from behind buildings staraight after 30moh sign after listening to the raw of the engines in the nationals thinking we would apply the breaks at the 30s not before. I mean I try to be as sensible as possible in marked areas as usually it's there for a reason...unlike those barstard 50 areas which should and used to be nationals!
Does my nut in all of this sort of crap

Derbyshire is full of 50 limits that used to be national limits and it's policed by ex members of the Nazi party

Loads of country roads have been dropped to 50mph from national speeds.

Re: Watchout, there's a horsebox about
Makes me angry, I'm sure the road heading to Henley was national some years back (or at least I used to think it was national and is a cracking bit of road) and now it's bloody 40MPH...potentially could of been me though!! Haha!! I'm.sure Frankie would know the road. It heads up to Twyford (A321 I believe)
