New land speed record attempt

Post by D6Nutz »

Looks like the nutters are up to it again, next years attempt will be for 1000 mph (fubar)

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/09/25 ... _unveiled/

The bit that really made me go (shocked) is the fact that they are using a 550bhp supercharged Jaguar V8 as the fuel pump (shocked) (shocked) (fubar)

Did I hear on the news that the Bloodhound generates more torque than the starting grid of an F1 race?

At the Autosport show last January i chatted to a guy who is involved in speed records and he was quite scathing of the Bloodhound effort.

He reckond the kit they are using is 30 years old and has no chance of breaking any records.

I've followed the bloodhound since its started and read all of their posts and pics. Doesn't look old to me.

Key thing with it is they are doing it on a shoestring effectively. They don't have many millions as it's pretty much all sponsorship and goodwill from suppliers.

Tbh I'm hopeful they do it as its good old British technical brilliance and determination. I do worry it's a step too far mind.......
