Monty get it. You've got a garage so can keep it on trickle charge (trust me having had one you'll need it) and enjoy the thrill of an awesome twin and cornering so solid you could get off and walk.

Money isn't tight it's non existent. Well not quite true it temporarily exists and then instantly evaporates!

Nice bike though Spud, but next time I want something that sits in the garage, gets serviced once a year and is there on the button when I get chance to use it.

Sadly.........I concur.

I think most jap bikes will give you that reliability. I know the European bikes have come on but you still seem to hear of more problems with them than with the japanese stuff.

As I say I'm considering a Kwak Z1000sx for my next bike for that reason, just gotta be sensible and steer clear of RC8's

I wouldn't mind one of those as a mile muncher

One of the older CBR600rr bikes like the one I had would be ideal. Well built and decent bike for the cash.

I think Ducati are virtually up there with Japanese bikes for quality now but unfortunately Aprilla are lacking in reliability and spares availability and that will always make me very caution about Aprilla ownership which is a shame as the rsv4 blew me away on a test ride.

good info blade i didnt realise that ,i was taken back on how nice the rsv4s were at donnington

i reckon you could do big miles on an rc8 ,you can adjust everything including the seat height
buy one you know it makes sense

Up to about 3 years ago, my triumph was utterly reliable never let me down. But the last 3 years have been, wiring faults, stator, rectifier, relays, bearing failures, oil leaks to name but a few. To be fair most of those aren't Triumph parts and the final big one (engine casings) is a Kawasaki design, so most of it is probably down to age, milage and abuse.

Fine if you've got the time to fiddle and not that expensive to sort (apart from the last one) just don't have the time anymore.

wonder if Hubington let his workmate ride it and that's why we've never heard from him since?

I met Hubington around the time that was all going on for a very quick ride out one evening, he was pretty set on not letting him ride it, although that was the last I heard of him so maybe I scared him off..sorry

In fairness I think the later models (2012 onwards) are better but would have to do more research before throwing cash into one. Duke and Kingfixer had nothing but problems with their Aprilla's to the extent they offloaded them asap when both of them really rated them as a ride. The dealerships and Aprilla factory have notoriously bad reputations for customer service. Just ask Duke or Mick
Actually don't I think they have both worked hard to blank those nightmares out of their memory's, haha

I suspect Aprilia are way behind everyone else now when it comes to reliability and spares and dealer back up.

From what i understand they are struggling financially too.

Having a bike you cannot ride because either you don't trust it or because you are waiting for spares is a shite place to be.
