Re: In, out or shake it all about?
Voting tomorrow. Regardless of the outcome I hope some positives come out of this.
I still think we'll vote to remain. On the back of how the public has reacted I suspect that both this government and the EU will agree to make some changes. It's clear that many aren't happy with the way that the EU is set up and the perceived inequality for some countries.

I hope you're right. This has been a horrible debate, just hope we can move on with the positives of which ever way we go.

the whole thing is a farce and a sham , nothing will change for the vast majority of people , either way the common man will be shafted , since joining the EU we have seen a steady decline in real terms of the average wage suffered the loss of our coal , steel and shipbuilding industries , seen the decline of the unions to the point where they are ineffective , sold almost all of our public utilities and seen the outsourcing of public services to private corporations , I am at a loss to see how this has been good for the common man .

Jack that's got nothing to do with Europe, you can thank Thatcher, Blair, Brown and Cammoron for that.Jack wrote:the whole thing is a farce and a sham , nothing will change for the vast majority of people , either way the common man will be shafted , since joining the EU we have seen a steady decline in real terms of the average wage suffered the loss of our coal , steel and shipbuilding industries , seen the decline of the unions to the point where they are ineffective , sold almost all of our public utilities and seen the outsourcing of public services to private corporations , I am at a loss to see how this has been good for the common man .

Apart from the European Convention of Human Rights and all of the worker rights, health and safety, the environment (remember poisoned water and acid rain?) , maternity and paternity cover, severance pay, working hours directive, holiday entitlement, equality, anti discrimination, etc.

Those things are only any good if you have a job , aren't equality and anti discrimination the same thing ? we were a signator on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948 long before we joined the EU , we also had laws governing severance pay / redundancy pay and the first national health service and workers rights that were fought for by the unions , we had the first welfare for unemployed etc etc etc , we were not backward in these areas and I cannot believe that they would not have continued to improve either in line with or possibly even ahead of our european counterparts

Re: In, out or shake it all about?
Either way it's going To be interesting. Maybe we stay in and maybe our leader will get some balls on him and get better deals for us, maybe we get out and get better deals elsewhere.
I'm unsure why people are scared of change, change happens whether big or small it's the ability to deal and cope with it that WILL make us stand out!
