Mother's day

A con pushed forward by interested companies or an opportunity to say thanks to your mum?

I can't say I'm a big fan. Most places push up their prices if it's in any way related to Mothering Sunday.

A good opportunity to say special thanks to your mum, i think.

If they feel special for a day its all good.

Just don't get too involved in the commercial hype.

My mum is pretty laid back about it all, we will go and see her as lets be honest the present I can give her is spending time with her favourite son ;)

Mine come to me and my mother lives in an annexe next door so I end up doing all the cooking and I get an overpriced gift which has cost my girls twice as much as it would be the next day .......plus the weather is going to be nice this way and Im cooking for 6

I see my mum on a regular basis. I take her out or invite her round. I think she likes a card but isn't fussed about anything else.

I went a little OTT at Christmas so the Fun Adjuster just said that one of the gifts I bought, she'll have it as a Mothers day prezzie ... still got her a card from the Spudlets though.

There is always her birthday .?
Although, actually I agree. Any excuse to show appreciation, and make up for the lack of that appreciation that I'll have demonstrated for a good portion of my years.

(smirk) So, you have a brother then ??

My sisters both have kids, so they are "the mothers" in their families I guess. So it will fall to me to treat our mum. She deserves it, besides I'm cherishing every opportunity these days, time creeps on. :(

I think it's just a con, money making sscheme and they cash in! We can all forget to show appreciation sometimes but one day isn't the same as spontaneous gift or a nice gesture for your mum. My mum's for life, a day to me just doesn't cut it thanks

Take Valentine's day can't stand any of these days. I try to show as much appreciation and try to make certain times speical whenever I can. Not on 1 day just because the companies say I should.

Thieving barstards....

Though I say all this until the last day and i'll always buy something because I feel bad when I walk down the shops and see all signs in the Windows...I cave in too easily haha!!

I don't really go mad, but mothers and fathers day is a nice time to show appreciation for everything your parents do for you. Generally for my parents it's never more than a card and the pleasure of my company :^

Mrs Nutz will be getting a card and a small present from the little Nutz but nothing extravagant, just something well chosen that will be appreciated.

Some people go way overboard on these days, but to me love and appreciation is not shown by how much money you can spend on someone.

Try and remember the good times instead, mate.

Father's day was quite difficult for me last year and we were all in the IOM too, which is why i fecked off on my own for an hour or so but you have to think of all the good memories you have with people and be thankful that you did have those times together.

See this is where you have it all wrong. Whatever the special day is , you don't have to go out and splash cash on anything but it still doesn't mean you can't make it a special day for them.

I miss my Mum every day. I hate this couple of weeks. Going in supermarkets for example is crap.
