I'm not one to fawn over Ducatis just because they're Ducatis. If I like a bike it's because I like it as a bike, regardless of brand.

But wow.

Just wow!

Very nice indeed. I'd do some serious straight line posing on that!

Red with gold wheels is a classic Ducati look.

Does no one else think that's just a little bit too close to gsxr blue? Especially the tank. The only reason I'd choose 899 over 1299 would be cost. If the 1199 hadn't got panned as a road bike in reviews the choice would be a lot harder. Probably why used 899 prices have stayed so high!

You can get an 1199 s/h cheaper than an 899.

I'm led to believe that MCT can transform the suspension on the 1199. All i need now is to spot some even cheaper 1199s :D

I'm with you there, but I don't like gold anything. Even my wedding band is titanium.

Its only internet chatter at the moment but it stems from something Domencali said a few months back about it that maybe that they have reached the limit of making a V twin competitive in top line racing.

This link: DUCATI: 2017, ANNO DELLA RIVOLUZIONE, ARRIVO DEL V4 PER LA WSBK. | translates to this:

Per those who follow me on Facebook this is nothing new, I had spoken during the weekend at Imola WSBK anticipating in some ways the "news" that, however, right to remember, is completely missing in official: Ducati at the end of 2016 will send retired competitive Panigale and the favor of a V4 intended to compete in WSBK.
There is talk of retirement competitive and non-commercial because Panigale could assist in dealerships the V4, built in a limited series, would serve to approve the version WSBK. We're not even specify this course, the new bike will be a project of Gigi Dall'Igna.
In this regard, the engineer from the goatee titanium specified that the Panigale version 2016 (the next year) will be reviewed in its R thanks to upgrades accrued this year in WSBK (new electronics, longer swingarm, new balance) but he has also made it clear that Ducati could break with the "tradition" to return to WSBK win in ...
The Bologna company could create a limited edition motorcycle specifically designed for racing in WSBK and at the same time to sell to collectors in the wake of D16RR road a few years ago, combining the competitive end to the commercial.
Such a move was made by Honda back in 1994 when it marketed the RC45. The V4, created to race in WSBK, did not replace the CBR900RR (who could not run because of displacement) but beside him in the list.
Yamaha, with the new R1, drew hands down the M1 racing in MotoGP ... Ducati will do the same by creating a strong V4 derived from the GP15 of Dovi and Iannone?
You are opening the era of WSBK derived from MotoGP? Interesting question technical / philosophical.

Still think this colour scheme takes some beating on a Panigale.

Cheers Duke interesting read (y) if a bit difficult due to translation issues at times.

If I understand correctly they will keep the panigale in the showrooms but also produce a v4 limited run special for wsbk racing.

If that is true could be a win win as the v4 would be awesome but would also allow the 1299 panigle to be further developed as a road bike with no compromises for racing needing to be considered.

That's the way i read it too. V4 racebike that you can buy ( probably for silly money) and the Panigale to become the road going sportsbike of choice.

I notice the editor of PB magazine says the 1299 is already a better road bike than the R1-M.

Yes I read that article too.

Go and try one, Blade. Its a lovely thing to ride.

Then give it 18 months or so until the s/h ones come on the market as they get traded in for the new V4 superbike. :D
