Re: What do you want to vent about today?
I wouldn't call you fat. Granted you're not going to get a Red Cross emergency food package any day soon but you're not fat. Well fed is what my nan would call you
It's tough to get into an eating and/or exercise routine when you've got small kids. My wife and I both put on the pounds when our kids were small. You tend to grab snacks and eat when you can. You're tired, the kid takes up a lot of time, you have to work around them.
I presume you work with Sports Illustrated models?

You old charmer you ha!
To be fair they are all pretty skinny, but ah well is what it is, just frustrating that everyday we have to chat about it.
Erm as Kwacky says, I am well fed, I weigh about 16.5 stone, 6 foot tall. I wear size 46 leathers as an example, 36 inch waist, my arms and legs are not fat at all, mainly around my chest and gut in all honestyC00kiemonster wrote:
I'll admit to being a bit of a fatshamer (very occasionally) as i'm lucky enough never to have been so.

Difficult i know, but i think i'd have to say something to them. Calmly and jokily to start with but they shouldn't go on about it.
Weight is harder to lose the older you get. I have to be more careful these days i have to admit.

Ergh.. I hate those passive aggressive people: "eating healthy are we?", "Ooh, someone's bought themselves something nice" or "Oh the gym?! You'll love it!"
Ignore it as best you can and do your thing, if you do choose to do anything about your weight and end up losing 3 stone then they won't be laughing and they'll be trying to be your best friend.

Next time someone says something, reply back just quietly enough that they hear you but no witnesses do... (and talking quietly and calmly while threatening is always more effective)
“I’m going to take one of these chubby arms and ram it down your self absorbed neck if you don’t shut the feck up”
I’ve always been genetically blessed in that I’ve been easily able to maintain a healthy weight. I think the fact I normally zip about like a collie on crack helps. Well it did till this neck issue. I’ve put on 8 kgs in last 7 months

I don't mind it most of the time, just had enough today. Oh well, when the nuclear winter comes I'll survive longer coz of my blubber and fur. Like a walrus. Majestic!

CT you’re not alone my younger Bro has been gradually losing weight over the last 18 months (since his Wife died), he and I went clothes shopping a few months ago and he was so made up he’d got into 36” waist Levi’s for the first time since he left school. He’s 55.

So it appears the best way to lose weight is get divorced.
I would check but I think liposuction is cheaper

Re: What do you want to vent about today?
Suppose I need to get this written...
A couple of weeks ago I spoke to my Dad. He wasn't feeling well and hadn't been since before Christmas. He said it was a bit of cold or flu, we put off going to see him at Christmas until he was feeling better, and up to having the kids and the dog running around the place.
The next day I get a call telling me he was in hospital. Having tests and scans done, but he was comfortable, so the hospital told me.
The next day, I spoke to one of the doctors in hospital. It wasn't good news.
It was cancer.
'Extensive' was the word the doc used. That was probably sugar-coating it.
I got up to see him the at the weekend, where he was insistent that he wanted to go home. Between his brother and me telling him he was in the best place so the hospital could do further tests and some sort of plan, he wasn't having any of it. He just wanted a few days at home to clear his head. So we took him home. The Community Nursing team got in touch, as did a Macmillan Nurse, to try and manage his care out of the hospital.
They organised a specialist bed to be taken to his home so he could sleep more comfortably. A few days later I received a call from a social worker, recommending he be taken into a local residential care home immediately.
We all agreed it was for the best. Even Dad, "as long as it's only short-term."
It was a lovely place, the staff there were all very friendly and helpful, one of whom was my Dad's next door neighbour. I was reassured that when I left to come home again he was safe, as comfortable as he could be and surrounded by people willing and able to look after his every need.
I had planned to go and see him on Friday.
He died on Thursday.
2 weeks from finding out he had metastatic (Stage 4) lung cancer, which had spread to the liver and oesophagus, my Dad was gone. In his own words he'd "had a good run", and at 78 I suppose he was right for a heavy smoker.
It still really hurts though.
Between having to register the death, organise the funeral and sorting out his possessions, this last few days has really sucked.
Bye Dad.

Re: What do you want to vent about today?
Really sorry to hear that, Itchy. When we are young, we think our parents will always be here ( i know that isn't always the case), as we get older we realise that isn't going to be the case.
Its still a shock when we it does actually happen.
Personally i found it quite life changing in a strange way.
If you want to have a rant or chat at some point, you know where we are.

Re: What do you want to vent about today?
Very sorry for your loss Itchy, I imagine you must be feeling rather rattled presently mate.
I suppose you can at least console yourself with the fact that it was a fairly short ending, imo that's better in many ways than slowly fading away from who he had been to you.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Itchy. No matter how old someone is when they pass away it is always too soon.
Much love to you and everyone around you.
