Re: The new improved fitness thread
Basic stuff last night at Taekwondo, going over old patterns and set sparring.
It's getting to the point now where I need to go twice a week so I can remember all the stuff we've learned. There are a few other places to train at, so it's a case of looking around and seeing what's nearby and what's suitable. I think having a different instructor will be good for me as well.

It's not TAGB though so I can't count the hours towards gradings.

Boxercise on a Tuesday. Mrs Kwacky is landing some big punches. I had best start behaving.

The weekend is well and truly over, getting started with a 5 mile recovery run tonight.

8.5 mile trail run at lunch time, I was knackered after 6.5. Trail running is a lot harder than road!

Re: The new improved fitness thread
15 mile road run yesterday, was supposed to be more but didn't go as planned.
Still, managed nearly 2000ft of elevation gain over the route. My legs are feeling surprisingly good today.

Upped the distance again tonight, 19.5 miles completed.
Legs are feeling OK at the moment, but tomorrow could be interesting.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
Crap me Jon, that's going some.
I've been training to do a 5K race for the last 9 weeks with Buxton AC Target 5K. It's my forth go at it and every time I've failed at around 3 weeks with chronic knee pain. This time I went to see a muscular skeletal specialist first, went to sweat shop and got my gate analysed and then bought the right trainers. The difference is unbelievable, now running for 40 minutes without any knee pain at all. Literally couldn't walk up stairs last time.
My times aren't very impressive, but just started running with Buxton AC progressive group so hoping to see that improve and working towards a 10k run in February.
To be honest though, I'm just happy to get around without stopping at the moment.

@monty
Your exercising, which is great. Your running which is also great. You can also run a 5k race, which is a hell of a lot more than a decent percentage of this country can do.
The right set of trainers makes the world of difference doesn't it. I know where your coming from, I suffered with shin splints for a good 6 months when I first started training. Sweatshop got me sorted as well, best thing I ever did.
10k in Feb you say?? In the bag, it's easier to go from 5-10 than from 0-5. IMO.

Cheers dude. Apparently only 4% of the population can, or so our coach keeps telling us.D6Nutz wrote:Your exercising, which is great. Your running which is also great. You can also run a 5k race, which is a hell of a lot more than a decent percentage of this country can do.

Great run, but now I've seen the map, I'm wondering did you mean to run that far or did you get lost halfway round? seem to be a lot of going in circlesD6Nutz wrote:Check out my run on Strava: https://www.strava.com/activities/11903 ... 1505765123" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;kiwikrasher wrote:Holy feck dude! Re: The new improved fitness thread
Lol, the running club does a run on Monday evenings, so the plan was to meet up with them.
I did a big loop of Basingstoke that was supposed to be at 10 min/mile, but turned out to be faster than that. Because I was way early for the club run I did a lap of the industrial estate to keep warm and then headed out on the club run which went over some of the route I had already done, but the other way.
TBH I was only planning on 18, but I'll take the extra.
