Degreaser

My rear wheel is covered in about 4 months worth of road crap, salt and chain fling.
What are people using for heavy duty degreasing to cut through crap like this?

Paraffin will do it, or WD-40 will cut through the grime, it's a better degreaser than lubricant.

Paraffin is a good shout.

Another Parafiin recommendation.
Cheap and effective.

It's not cheap though. I do like the stuff and I'm more than happy to wash my bike with the crud being as thick as it is I fear I'll have to use half a bottle.

I don't find SDOC100 any good in all honesty. WD40 is a far superior cleaner. HOWEVER, you will want to give it an ordinary wash afterwards as it can leave streaks

I didn't rate the WD40 stuff. As you say, it streaks and I don't think it cut through road grime very well.

The original WD40 not any of their other products. Or GT85. It does streak but then a standard car shampoo wash sorts them out

Apologies, I thought you meant their cleaning stuff.

Brake cleaner and a bag of rags, it’s cheap, but not as cheap as paraffin, but for my money is far more effective, followed up by chain lube and Motorex Protect and shine for everything else.

I would never of thought of Paraffin as i would of thought that would of damaged the paint work. Personally i would say WD40 on a rag, that stuff cleans anything
