You don't think there's a trickle-down effect from the wealthy??

that's a bullshit line fed to keep the underclass in place. They don't spend much and they stash loads away in property and tax havens.

Dunno...never in my life have I ever felt like I'm part of any sort of ''underclass', whether I've been flush or skint.

the people must own the means of production , without this they will always be open to being screwed over by the wealthy.
fyi the people of the UK own roughly 6% of the land , the vast majority is still in royal or titled hands it was given to them after being taken from the english people by William the Bastard after the invasion of 1066 , it was essentially taken from our ancestors by force and that is the only way we will ever get it back

Re: The family that control the world?
You want to redress a land- ownership imbalance that goes back over 1000 years??? (remember that the land they took was already owned/governed by the sitting monarchy beforehand).
That's neither practical or feasible in any form whatsoever.

the Saxon Kings governed by consent and most people owned the land they lived and worked on

Re: The family that control the world?
Now you're going back even further in time to 'kings' that were little more than regional governors at best.
Surely the ideal scenario here is that people who are smart/successful enough to make large amounts of money are willing to give it up for "the greater good", entirely of their own volition??
But Europe as a whole has always been much more Socialist than North America, so I guess I see where you're coming from.

the Saxon Kings were in power prior to the invasion of 1066 , and no the ideal situation is where people of all abilities both physical and mental are able to earn a fair and equitable wage , why should you earn more money than somebody else because you have a better memory or are better at some arbitrary test or other , why is a financial director paid more than a dustman , I would argue that the dustman is more useful socially than a financial director.

You're only worth what someone else is willing to pay....people vote with their wallets, and having a rockstar dustman is all well & good until paycheck time.
Either that, or someone else comes along who'll do the same job for less, and then Dusty is out of a job.

Norway and Britain both discovered North Sea oil. Norway now has the worlds richest sovereign wealth fund and we have a massive national dept.
That's the difference between a socially motivated economy and a Neoliberal one.
