I feel that I've done the liter sports bike now, and it's just far to easy to get to speeds tugs will really get you into trouble.
The next bike for me (which will be a way off) will either be heading back to lower cc sports or more likely a slightly larger naked.
Nutz if possible I would advise a test ride on a 1299 or other modern litre bike if you haven't already. I know the Millie is a 1000cc sportsbike but in fairness and not meant detrimental to the mille modern litre bikes are pumping out 70-80 bhp more these days and its a completely different experience.
I fully respect what you say about speed and getting a tug but let's be honest if you so wanted to landed yourself in hot water on a 600 sportsbike it would only take about 2 seconds and 2mm of throttle movement
Another good point Duke made is bikes like the 1299 come with power modes so you can keep the full power mode for track work and have a very civilised
road bike also by selecting a different map.
Not in anyway trying to persuade you towards a litre bike but just suggesting maybe try and blag a few free test rides on modern litre bikes for the experience if nothing else
Either way it will certainly be a fun day out using someone else Tyres and fuel
